Boy, listening to a few of these songs made me run to Amazon and buy their "Best of" CD. Takes me back to Jr High. What a great time to have been a teenager.
Sitting here reminiscing with these songs and let me tell you this is just what I needed today, these boys have shot me straight back to my youth and man did that ever feel good. Of which I am not out of yet. Young uns enjoy it while you can.
I believe Gary was born in my home state, Hibbing Minnesota......I believe he had 3 # 1 hit's in 1968!!!! I was 16 than and I'm from St. Paul, Minnesota, saw him in concert in 1968 in Minneapolis, was great, my first concert I ever went to, and saw him on the big stage, making out with my date, just got my driver's license thast June.
I was an Elementary, third grade student when this song came out, in late 1969. Very fond memories too, but not about the opposite sex. It was about me coming home to Erector sets, Lego sets and motorized toys. The interest in girls came four years later, when I entered the seventh grade.
@dld3151 Yeah. I was in the 3rd grade when this was constantly playing on the AM/ FM dial in late 1969. One of the best times of my life. Often I wish I was born ten or twelve years earlier. So glad I am not a teen in this era, 2010.
@dld3151 His voice marked my third grade year - 1969 - 1970. I was nine, going on ten. I see you arrived nine years earlier than I did on this planet. I bet the late 1960's was a kool time to be a teen. Sure glad I'm not a teen in this era.
Funny, when these were popular, (and I was too young) I knew the words to all of their songs, but never caught on what they were REALLY about!! Very mature and beautiful!!
Mariek9: Back then people used their imagination and were very creative. It is called good taste and class. That is why you can still appreciate the songs. I bought a tape with this song on it. I had not heard this song until I purchased the tape. I really like the song.
mariek9...thats when our bio-rythems were go'in a million miles a minute......those were the years 1968/69...I was about 16 or so.........yes, such a touching voice Gary had
I have the (vinyl) LP of their greatest hits. This is one of their best!

This is the only Gary Puckett and the Union Gap Top 40 hit that didn't make the top ten (it peaked at #15). Still a great song.

@Helivz I'm replying to myself to make a correction. I was eight-years-old in the fall of 1969, not nine years old.
