OK, so I walked into the room, and I looked at the particle target before I even knew what was going on. The target was connected to a contraption that sat on top of a box. Apparently some jackass had put a cat in the box. When I entered the room, a bunch of lab coats started whining that I killed the cat. "Oh no!" I said. "You're not pinning this on me."
I have a friend who once worked for a bozon research institute.
Someday I would like to read a book for the layman on quantum physics that can get beyond the "whoa, it's all so trippy!" stage. I've read Taking the Quantum Leap (Fred Wolfe) and Dance of the Lu Wi Masters (Gary Zukav), and both sucked in my opinion. Yes, I know it's trippy, but I want to know why how we came to believe the non-intuitive aspects. Zukav's explanation of the Schrodinger's Cat type stuff was particularly weak. Oh, who am I kidding... the whole world is weak.
Also, I refuse to absorb any knowledge that cannot be directly extracted from YouTube. So someone had better get on the ball and make a good video about quantum theory... and no Fred Wolfe, please.
I working on reading a giant tome called 'The Road to Reality' which is supposed to actually teach you all the math you need to know along the way to understand a wide range of topics, but at the rate I am absorbing it I will finish by the time I'm 400.
Better off to take a few years worth of serious courses at your local university to understand this stuff.
Do you ever wonder where the border between quantum rules & macro rules lies? Is it at the size of a molecule of potassium chloride? The size of a young amoeba? Of a mote?
There are some good videos on YouTube on dimensions that I have enjoyed; you might like 'em too. Search for "Imagining the Tenth Dimension." Maybe you've already seen them.
Also, the Mrs. wants me to ask if you were a fan of Ween. I told her I didn't think so.

Good stuff!
For some reason I always want to say Schrodinger's Dog instead of Cat.
As for Ween, actually I do quite like what I have heard of them, but I haven't really gotten that into them yet. I suspect I may, though.
"Waving My Dick in the Wind" is one of my all time faves.

I know what you mean.
I enjoy Brian Greene, although I haven't read too much by him. Leonard Susskind is great, but he relies mostly on analogies.
But really, I think it comes down to two things:
One is that you simply cannot understand this stuff without some hard core math experience.
But two, even those who have studied all the math required, and have devoted a lifetime to understanding this stuff, it still doesn't make any sense!

Adam, this is awesome. Do you ever play with a band and perform live?
You may be just one vicious beating of Rihanna away from stardom. I, too, would like to know how to buy.

I've played in bands before, and performed live. It's good fun. Nothing very major every, though.
My friends and I are actually just starting a band now.
Being a subscriber, if you send your address you can have a free CD.

Love it...Where can I buy?

I'd have to burn some CD's and print off the album art, but If you're comfortable sending your address subscribers get a freebie!
