Ya but when you're lost at Mach 3 just wait an hour or two and you'll be back where you started. We have one of these and it's drone that you can touch at the Pima Air and Space Museum here in Tucson Arizona. It's top speed REMAINS classified today.

An unmanned areal recon plane that is launched from the ionosphere where this bird lives. Ya, and the top speeds are still classified but what I've heard was also Mach 5-7. And very little doubt in my mind.

i was gona keep outta this debate....but....yes the the SR71 was replaced in its main role by satellites though does anyone really believe the yanks would give up the facility to transport VIP's at mach3+ without a replacement...i dun believe so....the role may have changed but the requirement remains...
