thanks so much, this is great!! Ive been trying to read it from a pattern but couldnt get it right, so this makes much more sense to me now, seeing you do it, thank you!
Stop complaining that she's going too fast. You need to actually know how to crochet and the specific stitches to learn how to do chevron stitch. If you actually listen to what she's saying and you know how to double crochet and skip stitches, then no problem.
If you increase to create the 3 high parts and decrease to create the 2 low parts, don't you increase by 3 stitches every row? Because if you increase 3 times, you increase by 9 stitches total and if you decrease 2 times, you decrease by 6 stitches total, which means that you increase 3 stitches in the end?
Should I make sure there's an even number of troughs and peaks for this reason? Thanks!
I did this with a starting chain of 17 x3 +4 =55. I then chained one and started to double crochet in the first loop away from the hook. Afterwards I continued with the pattern and it was fine.
I think your video is excellent. It is for those who already know how to crochet, which is fine with me. I dislike it when the videos start from scratch when those who are expert crocheters know how to do it already. I also love your accent. It's like being taught by my aunt or grandmother.
I used size 6.5 hook and started with 55 stitch, I have 3 v and 3 /\ and one row. between the v and the /\ I have 5 stitch (double crochet with no increase or decrease. I got 19 inches wide, too wide for a scarf. I am going to start over again with less stitch such as 17x2+4 = 38 stitch. I hope this will work for a scarf.
@Happiness8000 Your attitude is at odds with your user name ; ) The new Youtube can be a little confusing. I often forget to check my pm's on here too and it's not exactly 'in your face' obvious. A little tolerance? Why not ask what you need to know in the public forum. Someone will answer. Remember, this is a free service. She isn't obligated to you.
@Tintalasia I am fully aware that this is a free service as are most of the services on the internet. I have been on the public forum and many people have asked the same thing I have, and still there is no response. When you put something on the net open to the world you must expect a response. If you dont want a response then you disable any messages so people cannot request information. No one is obligated to anyone else on the net.
In which chain from the hook do you crochet the first stitch? I did it in the 4th and ended up with one chain left over at the end of the first row...
Could you show how to start the first two rows? I'm making an afghan and counted the 17+4 and had to undo several times because I'm not sure how to start. Please. Thanks much!
Oh gosh lady you have no idea how much this video saved me
I wanted to start a blanket with this stitch but I kept doing it wrong, it would increase in size and stitch numbers and I was so confused so I used another one. But I'm planning on making another blanket now thanks to you :D

The way you start is to chain the right amount of stitches.
Do a search for "crochet chain stitch".
And then a search for "double crochet stitch".
The first time you do just a chain stitch, you come back with double stitch and then you're good to go with the tutorial above.
Have fun!

She is 70 something years old, she might not be intentionally being rude, she just might not go on the internet that much.
