Thank you so much for excelent ideas and sharing them with Youtubers Gabrielle ! One thing i was wondering considering this soap - its quite dark and i am total blondie - is there a chance that this soup will darken my hair ?
And other suggestion-idea: what do you think if instead regular honey i put a manuca honey, which is said to be excelent for all skin problems, it works mirrcles for healing wounds and skin rashes? Thanks a lot sweetie !
WONDERFUL!!!! I am looking forward to making some. What would you recommend to keep it thick and creamy? I was thinking about using soy lecithin but I'm not sure. THANKS for sharing!!!!
Hello Gabrielle....I realized based on your other vids that you were a fan of indian oil/ poweders. Have you ever thought of adding shikakai or aritha to your black soap shampoo mixture????
@SimplyMoi91...Yeah....I had that thought..Actually, I am hoping that by mixing in the Indian powders, I can lower the PH of the formulation. At PH 10, the soap is too alkaline. My only concern is how to preserve this mixture since the black soap is very fragile and will quickly go rancid if not properly preserved. Have you tried this? M
@expertonmyself ...I know what you mean..And the best part is...even though this is a shampoo....Sometimes I am too lazy to make the body wash so I just use it for a shower...***shhhhh..that's just between you and me!
@folly24..If you can, please let us know how yours turned out or what changes and discoveries you made. It's all about learning from each other and building from that knowledge...And you are very welcome!
Wonderfully informative video. I've watch a few of your today. Your channel is the first I've ever subscribed too (there will not be many if any more) & this is my first time commenting also. You really seem to know your stuff!!. I don't know if you have a degree in Chemistry, but your knowledge seem to suggest that or something similary. Any who.. Keep up the great work and I'll keep watching. P.S. Love your accent! What is it? Will try to make the shampoo. Just got my african black soap today.
@doucwhaic ...Thank you...I very much appreciate your comments and you taking the time to write. I don't have a degree in chemistry..learned by watching my grandmother and experimenting all the time. My accent is Kenyan....thanks. If you can, please let us know what your opinion is on the black soap. You can post a video response if you like...Good luck.....
@lovewater1 ...I left it at room temperature...My house is about 73 degrees. The fridge would be too cold. I used hot water as a catalyst to fuse the ingredients..the cold would only be a hindrance. I usually make it in small batches but I have had the soap for as long as two months with no issues. PS: I use a preservative...hope that helps..
Great video. I just have one question. Why did you cover it up and leave in for 3 days as opposed to just using it right away? What are the benefits of letting it sit?
@nacala85... Thank you and great question. You are very observant. I covered if for a few reasons;1. To conserve the heat which helps the mixed in elements bond with the soap structure. 2. The water added in would evaporate taking with it the glycerine and honeyquat. This would destabilize the soap.
3. African women let the soap cute for about two weeks. I altered the molecular structure so I have to let it cure so it reconstructs and fully merges with the new components.Hope that helps..
@lillydot ...I could do that if I am feeling lazy. Actually, there was a time I made a mistake and used the shampoo instead of the body wash for a whole week...good thing it's all natural.... But I like to pamper myself so there will be additional ingredients in the body wash. I am working on a video for that...
Great video. I like to make my own shampoo also. I'm planning to make some with African black soap, olive oil, neem oil, tea tree oil, karanja oil, lavender EO and rosewood EO. I think I will leave out the water so I don't have to worry about a preservative (or I could use some optiphen). I like the thicker shampoo paste. Thanks again. Your videos are very informative.
@Ceci2468 ...Nice formula. I like to experiment with different formulations too. I might draw from your formula on the next batch. I am 15wks post so moisture was the main focus of this formulation. I didn't thicken because I need very light shampoo to penetrate through the growth to my scalp. I will change it up as my hair needs shift. Thanks for your sweet comment.
@Ceci2468 ...Oh and I have never tried optiphen...I will look it up..I have used a thickener before though and it worked great! You should try a thickener as well.
@CurlyTrini87...I put some links on the side bar for places that I have bought different ingredients. I try a lot of vendors to compare quality so I am still exploring more vendors. Please do extreme research before purchases..I cannot endorse any of the stores...I can only suggest.
Love your videos!

Great video! What is the shelf life of this soap? Also, should you leave it at room temperature during the 3 days or put it in the refrigerator?
