I had considered reusing old satellite dishes to make crude versions of the larger model ...and to compensate for the size, use several of these dishes as opposed to just one.
I know that permits will be required and that is another subject entirely.
Another concern I have is the effect the reflectivity would have on aircraft. It may be a non-issue but I don't know.
Also. I understand capturing the Sun's rays as a potential kinetic source for heating ...but what happens next. Are we heating water in a closed-loop steam system to turn steam turbines? ...is it a hot-air turbine?
I also believe there could be an advantage to creating high-capacity semiconductors that are able to take a Fresnel focus and turn it into power generation, using the same bowl.
12000 Eu is very inexpensive relative to solar panel options.
I would like to heat air but I don't know if rising hot air would be enough to move a turbine, or a single shaft with multiple fan blades will be enough torque to rotate a generator.
You can heat air, and at higher temperatures that is even better for heat transfer then water (it requires a special reciever, not more expensive, but a new design). Do you need heat or power in the end? What is your lattitude?
I am at 30.71N in SE US. Elevation @ 366 feet. I am overcoming 14.7 psia as a resistance which should be negligible.
Please bear with me; I am not an engineer.
The experiment with hot air is only to avoid having to go the route of using feedwater in a closed loop steam system where in recapture, atomization, re-condensing and particulate matter, dissolved oxygen content (ppb), etc...are a concern.
A non-reclaimable system means using water when water is at a premium with no rainfall.
yeah i've picked up one already as for the reflective surface i have a few friends that are into glass blowing and all that that kinda of work intells, i think i came across a old article on firing your own mirrors , (gotta do more research.)
so instead of BIG power companies we have homeowners free of grid.! most excellent!

I love the idea.

This installation can be used to generate steam (low or high pressure) which you can then use for other stuff..
Cost of materials of the bigges dish is about 12000 Euro..

Ultimately, I would like to generate 50kw to power a house.

had the same plain , i had i was thinking 2 or three 10 ft dishes , tied into a flash tank system .

What exactly do you need?

You might consider putting an ad on Craigslist requesting the older large satellite dishes that are no longer being used.
I would either apply paint used as a reflective barrier or line each dish with restaurant grade aluminum foil.
This is where I become stagnant for ideas.
