chances of GSN having a change of heart and bringing back ckassic game shows= 0. chances of Sony Pictures Television selling GSN to someone who cares= 0 chances of GSN putting more crappy, shitty original programming on that will eventually destroy the network= 1,000,000.
@legoking831 Lack of classics, excessive repeats of the same few shows, and some (but thankfully, not all) of their recent originals are just plain bad.
There are probably other reasons people bash it, but they aren't off the top of my head.
@Hondo20132 Another thing that now bugs me is that, based on a pitchfilm I saw, the network was supposedly created to promote wholesome family entertainment. After seeing the content they have today, I find that quite questionable.
Family Feud is a good show, but airing it four times a day is a bit excessive. You could air some really good shows if you would quit with the repeats. And BTW, that new improv show with Drew Cari or however you spellit SUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUCKS. Thank you.
i want gsn to return to airing the classics like the jokers wild and tic tac dough i am so really sick and tired of shows like 1vs100 deal or no deal and who wants to be a millionare whats going on has gsn passed the baton.
GSN went wrong was when they quit playing the price is right and other classic game shows and when gsn came up with their gmae shows as well.. The classic game shows are a hell of a lot better then what they have today.
We just need a GSN2 or GSN Classic like there's VH1 Classic! Remove the few remaining classics on GSN to this new "classic channel!" Have nothing since Millionaire! Mostly late '60s-'90s with some weekend blocks of Black & White shows. We want it to be the "oldies network for Game Shows!"
When I come to power @ GSN, the classics will be back, and both new and old shall coexist in perfect harmony, perfectly in tune with every bell, buzzer, and boingy-boingy...
Things were much better for GSN in 1994 than they are today. There was a lot more variety of game shows to watch. Don't get me wrong. Some shows that GSN airs today such as Deal or No Deal and 1 VS 100 are awesome, but repeating them over and over again multiple times a day gets to be really tiresome. There are so many different game shows out there and GSN now shows so few of them that it's crazy. Did someone who doesn't like game shows take over the network recently? =(
@GameShowUploader Yep. Someone who hates game show's guts took over the network, and that's Sony Pictures Television, who annoyed us with overplastering logos.
I Agree. I Starting Watching This Channel Back In 1995. I Enjoyed All The Shows
That They Were Showing. But Now It's All Garbage. What I Think They Should Do Is To Put All The New Shows On Monday Through Friday Between 9:00 A.M. Through 4:00 A.M. And Then Between 9 A.M. To 8:00 P.M. On Saturdays And Sundays Put All The Classic Gameshows. Than From 8:00 P.M. To 4:00 A.M. They Can Put On The Poker Shows, Even Thought It Is Not Needed.
Not to mention their crash with press your luck missing 2 years of the series when USA network probly only negected a few months of the series. COMMON PEOPLE! YOU WANT UR ECONOMY TO LOOK UP AGAIN?? PUT THE GAME SHOWS AND THEIR CREDITS BACK ON! WHAT IS GSN STANDING FOR NOW??? GAY SHIT NETWORK? lol
Nice reminder of what GSN used to be...they really started going downhill in 2004 w/the official re-branding and attempts to broaden their sched by airing non-GS programming (casino shows, reality TV, video game programs, etc). Their current original series are pretty good, but other than that, really nothing left that's worth watching anymore.
Sweet memories from the glory days of Game Show Network. Of the all the game shows featured in the launch, only 3 shows - Dawson's Feud, Match Game, and Eubanks' Card Sharks - exist on the current schedule (it is July 23, 2010 as I post this).
And I agree, GSN used to be crap in 2009. All that was worth watching was Combs' Feud, but even that wasn't as exciting to me as Eubanks' Card Sharks. I gave up GSN in May 2009, but the return of Card Sharks in April really gave me a second thought.
Nice. I remember when we got Game Show Network in 1995. I watched it a lot until 2000 or so. They removed it from our service a few months back and I didn't even notice since I have not watched it in years. I only found out when I saw the notice on a message board yesterday. It is pathetic how many channels are garbage now. Damn near every channel show nothing but crap.
So many good memories of this network back in the day. It's a shame that there is only a small handful of classic game shows left on the network and they are only airing new reality and modern game shows now. I'd love to go back into a time machine and relive these days again!
Nothing lasts forever, unfortunately. We'll probably get to see some of these classics again for one day only specials, like feast of favorites or holiday marathons. At least GSN did give us these gems when they did.
Hot Potato (1984) Bumper Stumpers (1987-1990) Super Password (1984-1989) Quiz Kids (1990-1991) Ruckus (1991) All About the Opposite Sex (1990) Family Feud (1988-1994) Hold Everything! (1990) Match Game (1990-1991) The $1.98 Beauty Show (1978-1979) Celebrity Charades (1979) The Fun Factory (1976) Joker Joker Joker (1979-1981) Break the Bank (1976-1977)
Of all the listed shows, 19 of them are Goodson-Todman shows, and the other 27 are Sony shows.
Now You See It (1974-1975) Wheel of Fortune (1983-Present) Double Dare (1976-1977) The Diamond Head Game (1975) Family Feud (1976-1985) The Gong Show (1976-1980) Card Sharks (1986-1989) The Hollywood Connection (1977-1978) Jeopardy (1984-Present) Camouflage (1980) Tic Tac Dough (1978-1986) Password Plus (1979-1982) 3's a Crowd (1979-1980) Blockbusters (1980-1982) Trivia Trap (1984-1985) Fantasy (1982-1983) Bullseye (1980-1982) Child's Play (1982-1983)
Here's a list of all the game shows (and the versions) in GSN's library featured in this launch tape: What's My Line? (1950-1967) Beat the Clock (1950-1961) I've Got a Secret (1952-1967) To Tell the Truth (1956-1968) Password (1961-1967) Perfect Match (1967-1968) The Dating Game (1965-1974) The Newlywed Game (1977-1980) Beat the Clock (1969-1974) The Joker's Wild (1977-1986) The Parent Game (1972-1973) Match Game (1973-1982) The New Treasure Hunt (1973-1977) Tattletales (1974-1978)
I've been watchin' GSN 4 7 years & I remember all dem classic shows from100K Pyramid 2 Friend or Foe. GSN is still good but all dem poker shows on Sunday nite, really sucky. Thanx 4 postin' dat up.
man, GSN was awesome from the launch until around 2003 or 2004 one of those two they started changing alot and taking a lot of the classic shows off the air and putting these reality shows on :( and now they are putting on these recent game shows like 1 vs. 100 with bob saget. GSN needs to put some of the classic game shows back on or they might not last much longer. But I love GSN even though I dont get digital cable, I watch it whenever I go over to my friends house
15 years this December already? Around 1999 or 2000 I remember they were showing ads for it at the end of "Wheel of Fortune", and it made me wonder what this channel was like, because I didn't have cable yet. I finally got a dish around February 2002 and I've been hooked to Game Show Network/GSN ever since.
I Think They Need To Be More Flexible With Their Programming. Here's How I Would Advise Them To Do.

I didn't see this when it first aired because Game Show Network was once a paid subscription service, just like Disney Channel used to be.

# of game shows still (barely) on the schedule in this montage: 4 (Dawson's Feud, Match Game, Card Sharks, and Jeopardy, being recently reinstated).
# of shows worth watching on GSN: none, because they're all beaten into the ground.
# between 1 and 10 for GSN to recover: sub-zero.
Watching no-nothing execs prefer Wendy Williams, crappy improv, and 100 reruns of Engvall Lingo: PRICELESS.
