I don't see this as some grand conspiracy of the offending parties to somehow undermine local control, i think it's ignorance by the Fed concerning the importance of local control.
Even if a state of emergency is declared and Fed assistance requested, the local jurisdiction should still maintain control concerning their assigned area and should only have to coordinate with the Feds to keep them abreast of the various situations that arise.

The state might not require registration, but those weapons still have to be registered Federally with the ATF. NH is a non registration state and we are required to register them Federally because it is US law. The same Federal reg info they used to confiscate weapons in Louisiana. I believe more then you think will willingly hand their guns out of fear of being shot or for safety.

I think the feds started that fire and now they want it to spread as much as possible, so they can destroy Texas financially and politically in order to make way for the drug cartels and facilitate their work.

I don't see this as some grand conspiracy of the offending parties to somehow undermine local control, i think it's ignorance by the Fed concerning the importance of local control.
Even if a state of emergency is declared and Fed assistance requested, the local jurisdiction should still maintain control concerning their assigned area and should only have to coordinate with the Feds to keep them abreast of the various situations that arise.

I could see these fires from 281 south, north of Johnson city, when i was coming back from Altus, OK. They where BAD news. We still have a trailer and truck ready to come pick up horses to bring to San Antonio, If and when people need them. The next day, a warehouse caught fire on Perin Beitel, and loop 410. If you check out the Freestater movement, which New Hampshire has become the center of, you will see there are a large number of us who do take stands and do more then just talk the talk. It is the mentality and activism of NH residents and our influx of new ones who've become Freesters that has kept the Federal Government out as much as possible here. FEMA tried to come in with the recent hurricane and we told them to F off.

Funny coming from the guy who commented to me about how bad ass New England Volunteer Firefighters are and how FEMA Agents failed to stop them from charging to the rescue in N.O. during Katrina. "They tried to stop New Englanders but found out they couldn't. We are a different breed." Odd as I don't recall that happening in N.O. and I think Texas/Texans are "a little more" well known for standing up for themselves than the North East, just saying.

@BikeMeAustin It was all over the news up here with Katrina how all the power company volunteers and rescue personal were told not to show up and still went down. When they arrived at the boarder were told to turn around again and didn't. They found open points of entry. The first non Louisianan volunteers were from ME, VT, & NH a fact. Texans are known for standing up for themselves? Excuse me? New Englanders do stand up for themselves more then Texans ever will or do. NH is a Freestater haven.

I lived right at the TX / LA border in Lake Charles LA & listened to them piss, moan, & complain about what was wrong, like law enforcement. When I told them to do something about it. I was looked at like I had 6 heads and told it only leads their retaliation.

New Hampshire where I am from takes the least amount of Federal money and we pay for all of those things ourselves with only property taxes for the most part. My buddy has a .45ACP, an SKS, and an AK47 with a folding stalk, all legal, and no registration on them. It would be a bitter fight to get our guns. That being said, I don't know how many pansy bendoveres will, willfully hand over their guns, for the elision of safty.

@asleeperj There were supposedly far too many gun owners in Louisiana for them to pull this and they did there. The state might not require registration, but those weapons still have to be registered Federally with the ATF. NH is a non registration state and we are required to register them Federally because it is US law. The same Federal reg info they used to confiscate weapons in Louisiana. I believe more then you think will willingly hand their guns out of fear of being shot or for safety.

Yep, FEMA is staying out of the way of the Firefighters but helping with supplies(water etc.) and taking stock of the damage to see if Texas qualifies for Federal aid.

They tried to stop New Englanders but found out they couldn't. We are a different breed. We understand and know what this country is about being the cradle of the American Revolution. The NEA tried to get that being taught here and parents went out of their trees over it while parents there let it happen.
