Yes very true i have flown hundreds of beach hours always approach crosswind then turn 6 feet high you will lose altitude quickly and then just add the appropriate opposite brake to land.
ouchy....yea ive had to land on short beaches before and what i do now, is set up fly down the beach sort of cross wind and when i get close to the ground turn slightly like into the wind and flare...takes the fear out of taken a drink :-) hope you were not hurt
Thanks, the dark kills your depth perception for landing. My frantic screaming wife forced me to use a poor quick forced landing judgement. A freaked out beach home owner was giving her shit about us flying. Knee injury.
