Sure, the plunge system is pretty much rock paper scissors, but I still find it very enjoyable. It really comes into its own in episodes five and six when you have multiple blade arts and link attacks and you can adopt proper 'strategies'. Like a slot machine, I suppose the hook is the variable reward - except instead of tumblers you get fantasy swordplay.
If you've ever used RPGmaker2000, even this simple departure would have taken considerable time and effort to implement.
lol you got owned in that first plunge. But then again, I guess everyone does. Oh and btw when the enemy/you flashes red, that means they got a critical. You'll learn about that in the future.
Yeah, just started playing this. Can never get past the switchfoot.

Rock paper scissors is the best battle system you've seen aside from generic turn based (which Final Fantasy TOTALLY INVENTED, amirite)?
Eesh, I'd hate to see the games you play.

Hmmm... that plunge system reminds me of legion saga's duel system, be it much more refined in this case.

Ah, Legion Saga! That takes me back. I thought it was pretty pioneering, but then I'd never played Suikoden.
Worth a look if you're a fan of RPG maker games, that's for sure.
