  • watch it 5:26

  • he"s coming fast holy maccaroni 5:54 like 111 miles per hour

  • he"s coming fast holy maccaroni 5:54

  • 4:57 is like what my girlfriend sounds like when i bang her.

  • Blown headgasket, cracked head, bent valves, etc. lol.

  • @Toni7859 bent valves from over heating ...... wrong pretty much everything else would be toast though, including the block,

  • @northernchicken - YES!

  • That "new" car needed a new engine by the time it reached the top of the grade. :)

  • And he pissed the truck off how? He passed him. Anger management much?

  • should have replaced that radiator pipe!

  • 4:06 LMFAO!!

  • "C'mon!!!"

  • at 0:18 you can totally tell someone just trew that tumbleweed !

  • He puts it in neutral, and yet it still goes? Excuse me if I'm wrong, but I'm pretty sure it's not supposed to work that way..Anyone know why?

  • @WeAreTheSHWE

    can you explain

  • Comment removed

  • @WeAreTheSHWE . the car is just coasting while in neutral. if you notice he tries to start the car up again because he needs the brakes and stering ifs its power..

  • @WeAreTheSHWE Like mphemh said, the engine's radiator hose was leaking and without the coolent the engine slowly over headed and started to die with lack of oil to the moving parts as it over heated. So by the time he reached the top of the hill, the engine died and he put it into neutral so he can still turn and have some brakes but without the engine on he cannot drive so good, plus you have to have it in neutral or park to turn the engine back on to get power to the brakes. :P

  • @icehorse1010 actually thats incorrect unless you have power assisted brakes which in those days you didn't it is hydraulic and so you can brake regardless of the car being on or not.

  • @saga212 You can still use power brakes if the engines off, they just require more pressure.

  • He's talking, but his mouth isn't moving....FAIL

  • @graypaw0908 whoa whoa now thats a Plymouth Valiant were talking about here its the radiator hose not the car!

  • Haha! It's a smoke screen!

  • "The Truck wouldn't have stood a chance with oil on such gradiance. Boy would he be slipping and sliding. Oil on the Hyways in that heat??"

  • the trucker just wanted to tell him that his tail light was gone

  • David Mann is a putz

  • "Oh no please no!" That musta sucked when that hose broke.

  • @youlupukki

It is a great film and it's probly my favourite of film of all time but what do you mean by faulty logic? not that it matters im just curious

  • Horrible time for your car to break down, buddy. And long before the age of cell phones!

  • I'd love if Weaver called the trucker out and he turned out to be a 100 pound weakling.

  • 1:10 ear-gasm

  • The best thing of the movie is the chaser that's a trucker. If you think, trucks are more scary than normal cars, so here you go

  • @Lucap1000 More than that, they probably picked the scariest looking piece of tractor I have ever seen! 0.o

  • Let that be a lesson to us all. When your radiator hose needs replaced, replace it. You never know when a giant truck may be chasing you. Typically truckers don't like orange plymouth Valiants either, so don't drive those around truckers. Only AMC Matadors or Pacers are worse hated. Truckers will not chase a Valiant Charger however even when painted orange.

  • @thegreatozz1 lol, or just have a spare and toolS! Or check it before you leave on a long trip!

  • @thegreatozz1 Would you let that gimpy gas station attendant change YOUR hose??? Limpy had trouble making change with his Kaiser Soze hands!

  • should have replaced his radiator hose when he had the chance but hey made for a better movie

  • Panic scream at 4:08 LOL

  • late reply but that shit gets me laughing all the time; even though its not supposed to be funny

  • OH SHIT STARE! 3:23 LOL

  • @cas447 That was like dramatic gopher Dennis Weaver style

  • i think he should of checked the CHECK OIL LIGHT

  • He should have just stopped and bought the trucker lunch.

  • Why didnt he just get off the car and run somewhere the truck cant reach him?

  • @SynGatesZV Thats a bit pointless. The truck will just stop and wait for him to get back into his car

  • @SynGatesZV Thats a bit pointless. The truck will just stop and wait for him to get back into his car. There's an important lesson in this film btw. When it comes to car maintenance, never put off anything when can you do today and more specifically replacing a old radiator hose and you're on an interstate trip. You never know when you'll need to put on a burst of speed

  • i dont know his name, but i think the guy being chased is a very good actor.

  • @mrpolaroid123 Dennis Weaver . This role helped him get his own TV series McCloud. Ironically if he found himself in this predicament McCloud would have stop the truck in the first five minutes and duked it out with the driver

  • He doesn't know he has a rear-view mirror even though he looks right by it while twisting his neck around.

  • next time buy the hemi version

  • Actually he can confronts the truck driver when they stopped at the roadside. Pick one big stick and ask the driver to come down, man to man.

  • @guanengkongkang Spoke like a true alpha male

  • @guanengkongkang, it still would be impossible, because the trucker would just come on his body with the truck

  • I would never allow my car coast down the hill like that

  • ever notice how that car has unlimited fuel? every time they look at the dash his gas gauge says it's full, and this was the 70's where gas guzzlers where king.

    fucking funny

  • @MasterJericho85

actualy thats a valiant and you'd be suprised how fast that 6 cil. can get you with time!

i never heard no v8 "wedgehead"

  • When the car begins to climb the hill, look in the rear view mirror. You can see Spielberg sitting in the back seat trying to duck while directing Dennis Weaver.

  • @unirest if that was me on the car i would have gotten ahead about a few miles and pulled out my AK 47 a 75 round clip with steel penetrator ammo. Take that motha fuka eat lead. LOL times sure have changed.

  • man, that poor bastard :(

  • next get a car with some balls under the hood

  • @LARENZFAIR

it did it had a 6 cilinder wich gets ya goin eventualy but it was stated his cooling hoses were going bad thats what happened

  • Why is his mouth bleeding? did he bite on it o something?

  • mdr comme i s excite xd moi la voiture je laurais laissé et je serai allé défoncer le gars du camion à coup de poing xd

  • Used to watch this with dad. So many years ago. No one had ever heard of Spielberg.

  • 4:09 EPIC FACE AHAHAH AWSOME!!!

  • I've got an old 4-barrel Cadillac and it feels like that every time I have to climb a big grade. Even with a V8, you have to floor it to do 30 mph on really steep parts.

Gotta love old cars. They made you understand how hard they worked.

  • this kind of thing happened to me the other day, accept it was a school bus not a truck!

  • 4:08 hahahahahahaa common:D:D

  • Comment removed

  • The truck doesn't make the same sounds in the DVD release, right down to the "roar" in several brief scenes (including the VERY end). Shame.

  • 1:20

lol When I saw that for the first time, after begging him throughout to find an up-hill area, I had to say: "Man, God hates you..."

  • That happened to me once (the blown radiator hose, not the psycho truck chase thing).

    Scares the crap outta ya.

  • I just remembered another scene that was missing, what happened to the part where the truck driver helps the bus driver move the school bus near the tunnel?

  • one of the best thrilling scenes ever! where is that pass road filming location exactly? sierra highway or soledad canyon road?

  • @TheConcretematt

its on the Soledad Canyon Rd in CA

i found on the google earth

  • @TheConcretematt Soledad I think.

  • oh the suspense is KILLING me!!!!!!111

  • gracias conanhk

  • If my car smoked that much and the oil light was coming on.....it'd BLOW UP real good.

Still love this movie...thanks for putting it on.

    Miss the diner scene!!

  • it's amazing how the car can do 60 mph in neutral. Must have that car!

  • @cannucksucan Any car can do that on a steep enough grade. LOL You don't need an old 1971 Dodge to do it, which by now would be a classic IF you could find one that looks like his did. LOL

  • Yep, must have seen Duel 100 times, but 4:06 - 4:09 never fails to make me crack up - hilarious. All in all a fantastic film.

  • pleeeeess, pleeeeeesss... COME ONNNN!

  • This is hilarious.

  • Remind you self; your posts show your education and background....

    Please don't be too rude.

  • If they re-made this, they'd have to use a nissan cube for the victim, and kill it this time.

  • best not to analyze this film for errors - there are far too many - just enjoy the film for the drama and tension - it's strength is in the drama and tension.

  • @paulfreefall I rather see real film with errors than stupid computerized crap. Computerized movies make everything way too fake. At least these things are real and there was such a thing. The Peterbilt is real and the car was real.

  • @paulfreefall

What are some of the errors?

  • I definitely remember this scene.

  • I agree

  • @Gromitdog1 dumbass she took the radiator hose off

  • The Valliant was a piece of crap bargin car.

  • LOL ya but they shouldve put oil on the frist stop so wont over heat much

  • I repeat again - why have they edited the soundtrack to include a load of extra c**p?

  • what is c**p

    oh do you mean shit?

    or crap?

its okay,,,, you can cuss on youtube,,,this isn't grandma's house,,,don' t be afriad lol <----- (that means laugh out loud if your too old and can't understand lol,

im just being a dick and fucking with you dude,,,,,,,

  • yeah...we know

  • wtf happened to the train!?!?!?!?!?

  • The cinematography and intensity in this film are great. The acting, however, leaves something to be desired...

  • Speilberg's first real movie with a big name actor. The whole thing was done in less than two and half weeks of filming. Considering there's almost no dialogue, Steven did an amazing job with his ability to keep the suspense going. Weaver was never know for his great acting skills!

  • @CrazyShortsCrew It don't need the acting. The suspense, as someone else mentioned, is what carries the movie. :)

  • hi its me again the duel cowboy i was closing in on him i was cranking my gas pedal in my cowboy boot harder and harder then the car crashed in to me i wasnt sure what i was doing in my boots i was stoping in my boots no i was driving in my boots no stoppin then i oh shit i fell to my death in my cowboy boots

  • XDDDDDDD 4:08 may be the most coked-up acting I've ever seen in my life.

  • why didn't mann just keep on going down the hill, the truck would be stuck in low gear until he reached the bottom

  • did he have an ulser!? :O

  • if the dumbass got the radiator hose replaced when he should have, he wouldn't be in a world of shit right now - serves him right

  • He DID ask for it to be replaced, but before the lady had the time to change it, the truck started ramming through everything.

  • poor main character ;( i feel so sorry for him D; stupid thing that broke the tire... and stupid wheel rim! EVERYTHING's stupid! everything is dangerous >X(

lol btw i thought that ''prnd'' at 4:46 meant ''pwnd'' XD

  • @SmokinGun95, he actually broked the radiator hose, not the tire, so he had to stop the car in order to cool the radiator

  • Too bad Weaver wasn't in a '69' GTO...see ya later Peterbilt.

  • i like when it shifts into netural for some reason

  • He did it to gain speed since this engine is failing without a new coolin hose. It's overheating the motor.

  • no way!

    i meant the cinemetography affect.

  • i personally hate the slant 6's with an eight he easily would have been able to pass him in the blink of an eye and keep him in his rearveiw

  • If you're talking about the truck driver, you're missing the point. He's toying with him...

  • LOL yeah its in neutral at 3:54 LOLOLZ!

  • That car's a miracle. Climbing an incline in Neutral!

  • That was after he made it past the slope.

  • Actually he didn't put it in neutral until he started going downhill.

  • I love slant six engines.

  • One of the best suspense films/ car chases EVER.
