Only thing I hate about ff2 is that the higher level areas are open to anyone and no matter where I go there is always a random battle where the enemies 1 hit kill me D:
@Aromaticgrassitem i have a pretty interresting or humorfilled theory on the fact why the BEST FF songs were so...well les amazing because its a fighting game, how the hell can you pay attention to fighting and mashing that circle button when you are listening to the music and get distracted all the time? :P

I liked FFII, I think the reason was that I went into with very low expectations, so I got more than I expected. It's still far from my favorite FF game, but its still solid

@jsh020 i personally don't think any final fantasy OST is underrated at all. They are truely amazing and pretty much all of them known by people who listen to game soundtracks. Sadly, There are much more other less know games with a fantastic OST, way more underrated than this.
I tried, I REALLY tried to play the original ff2 but it was just too painful, I still kinda like it I just cant stand the battles... I feel like ff2 defeated me.

and besides FFXIII Did outsell 10's launch and is almost topping its overall sales, FFX was at 9 mill, XIII is currently at 8.4 mill, it aint got much farther to go
@finalfatasyfreak49 FFX didnt have a open world, you hate that one too, nor did FF tactics, hell FFXIII at least had pulse which was about as big as a world map anyhow alogn with a total of 60 side quests

@LeriaCossato Does'nt beat FF7 but it's clearly the best 2D Final Fantasy. It's a pretty old games and the scenario was awesome plus the leveling system is really nice.

@jsh020 I will credit FF2 for good music, and a very epic storyline. The story does suffer from weak main characters, sort of the opposite of FF4 with it's hokey, plot-convenience driven story, yet amazingly written characters. Even the lovable cannon-fodder Palom and Porom were 10 times more animate then say, Gus or Maria with their interchangable dialog.This game is a huge step-up from FF1 which blew chunks, and it's place as one of the best of the series is well established and well deserved
@Lordgaraj thats true but people tend to forget that FF4 is 6 years older than 2 and hence why it would be better, i personally didnt like FF4's cast to much i didnt ahte anyone but with the exception of cecil being one of the best MC's in the serise and kain being awild card but sitll likable the cast was kinda forgettable to me
FF5 though has a great cast and there is no reason for this game to be so forgetable

@jsh020 I didn't think FF4 was entirely better then FF2, the story as I mentioned was so driven around character balance, you could predict some characters deaths as soon as they joined the party. I liked the cast a lot, exclusing Rosa, because she was just a stupid love interest with no character at all. They deserved to be in a better tale.
FF5 was fun to play, but outside of Faris's pirate shenanigans the cast was dull and forgettable and the Job System stripped them of individuality.

@jsh020 Gilgamesh was a badass! Of course he had to be based on the legend he came from. FF6 is probably my favorite game out of the entire series. The characters are interesting, Kefka is a evil sumbitch who seems to get off on how evil he can be. The battle system is effective, though admittedly having everyone using magic waters down their individuality somewhat. You aren't lying about X-2 ; that was just schlock...

When I listen to this song, remember my 1987 old elementary school age in Japan. including prominent sounds so that can imagine night story on Medieval, the sorrow and joy story that battled for the defense of their land. Nobuo Uematsu, was the music composer, did great job. That would be a milestone game musician with Koichi Sugiyama of Dragon worrier. On the early period of RPG, 1987, The role that FF2 fulfilled was the biggest.

And the MUSIC, my God, the music classifies Final Fantasy as ART. Uematsu created 10 unique musical scores for the first 10 games (everything after x-2 sucks musically and plot wise). Each game has its own distinct sound for Christs sake. Not many video games carry that distinction.

The fact that 13 games (and numerous spin offs) were released under the banner of 'Final Fantasy' shows that its more than just electronic entertainment. Violence is just human nature, Video Games weren't around during the Dark ages, World War I and II, and all the other wars. Murder is not a new concept it has been around since forever. Its illogical to think that violence is caused by video games, and not by all other influnces which cause it. You should play 6, that is my personal favorite.
And I just didn't like 2 at all....
The random encounter rate was too high....
An hour in, the only song that I even remotely liked was 'revivication'....
There was an imbalance in difficulty, walking into territories with enemies that are 30x stronger than you (this is what caused me to put my psp down)
The story seemed REALLY generic, which is ok if the characters shine, but they never did for me..

Bs, it's one of the recent final fantasy games, and when you mention Final Fantasy to all the Graphic loving junkies who took over the Gaming industry, the only FF game that comes to mind is XIII. I could care less if you like FFXIII, because ultimately, it's up to the individual to decide whether a game is good or not. I never openly said FF XIII sucks, I just said I didn't like the game, which is my opinion.

@jsh020 Like I said, I don't care whether or not you like Final Fantasy XIII or not. It's not helping your argument at all. It's not going to make the game underrated any time soon until they come out with a few more Final Fantasy games. If I had the power to make a game underrated just by commenting on a guys comment I have no clue as to who it might be, I would be pretty damn special, don't you think? It's also not an argument, all you said that the game is underrated and I disagreed.

@jsh020 Read carefully: I didn't like Final Fantasy XIII at all, infact, I despised it compared to the classic I-X. I couldn't clasp onto the story, I thought all the characters were boring and Cliche, the music didn't move me like others did like VII, IX, and II. Midway through the game, I got bored, and I had to actually TRY to play the game because I would get too bored after 2 or 3 minutes. They focused way too much on the graphics and and not enough on the story--

@jsh020 -- I'm not saying that people shouldn't play this game because -I- thought it was bad, hell, I even told one of my friends that I didn't like this game. He said he was still going to get it, and I told him, that he should get it, because he may like it. The game Lunar: Silver Star Story Complete, is my favorite game of all time, and my friend said he didn't like it that much, and you know what I told him? I said I respected his opinion, because I can't force some to like/hate a game.

@jsh020 When I said that FFXIII was one of the worst game I ever played, I was hoping that you could have been like me and my friend, and respected my opinion. Like saying something like 'Well at least you like II and V." But nope, you have to go call this an argument. I hope you're satisfied with your "Argument" I hope you think that you're (In the words of Charlie Sheen.) #WINNING. But I still respect the fact that you enjoy FFXIII. @jsh020 I will credit FF2 for good music, and a very epic storyline. The story does suffer from weak main characters, sort of the opposite of FF4 with it's hokey, plot-convenience driven story, yet amazingly written characters. Even the lovable cannon-fodder Palom and Porom were 10 times more animate then say, Gus or Maria with their interchangable dialog.This game is a huge step-up from FF1 which blew chunks, and it's place as one of the best of the series is well established and well deserved

@Lordgaraj thats true but people tend to forget that FF4 is 6 years older than 2 and hence why it would be better, i personally didnt like FF4's cast to much i didnt ahte anyone but with the exception of cecil being one of the best MC's in the serise and kain being awild card but sitll likable the cast was kinda forgettable to me
FF5 though has a great cast and there is no reason for this game to be so forgetable

@jsh020 I didn't think FF4 was entirely better then FF2, the story as I mentioned was so driven around character balance, you could predict some characters deaths as soon as they joined the party. I liked the cast a lot, exclusing Rosa, because she was just a stupid love interest with no character at all. They deserved to be in a better tale.
FF5 was fun to play, but outside of Faris's pirate shenanigans the cast was dull and forgettable and the Job System stripped them of individuality.

we can at least agree that FF6 was amazing right? FF7 i pretend it doesnt exist and 8 i tend to ignore but those 2 and X-2 are the only FF's i legitimently dont like, the rest i love its just those 3 i cant look past all the flaws

@jsh020 Gilgamesh was a badass! Of course he had to be based on the legend he came from. FF6 is probably my favorite game out of the entire series. The characters are interesting, Kefka is a evil sumbitch who seems to get off on how evil he can be. The battle system is effective, though admittedly having everyone using magic waters down their individuality somewhat. You aren't lying about X-2 ; that was just schlock...

@Lordgaraj i ahte X-2 more than anything due to not only FFX being my fav in the serise but my favorite game ever, so you should tell right away why i despise that game so much more, luckilly i fairly enjoyed the other main serise sequal(12-2) despite it being fairly forgotten fast,
and let me tell you, when i hear people say FF13 was worse than X-2 then my urge to unleash kefka on their asses rises to the maximum possible containment, ecpecially since there really isnt much wrong with 13

@jsh020 FFII and V are indeed underrated, but i don't think XIII is underrated. After waiting years for a Next-Gen Final Fantasy game, they deliver a linear interactive movie with crappy story and uninteresting characters. Sorry, but FFXIII deserves all the hate it gets from the fanbase IMO.

When I listen to this song, remember my 1987 old elementary school age in Japan. including prominent sounds so that can imagine night story on Medieval, the sorrow and joy story that battled for the defense of their land. Nobuo Uematsu, was the music composer, did great job. That would be a milestone game musician with Koichi Sugiyama of Dragon worrier. On the early period of RPG, 1987, The role that FF2 fulfilled was the biggest.

All I remember from this game is that at the beginning I didn't know how to look at the world map, and if you go just a bit too far from the "given" route, you fight enemies that kill your entire party in one hit X(

One of the reasons why I absolutely love Final Fantasy.
The music composed is beautiful and outright amazing. Goosebumps are almost a sure thing when it comes to songs like these.

And the MUSIC, my God, the music classifies Final Fantasy as ART. Uematsu created 10 unique musical scores for the first 10 games (everything after x-2 sucks musically and plot wise). Each game has its own distinct sound for Christs sake. Not many video games carry that distinction.

The fact that 13 games (and numerous spin offs) were released under the banner of 'Final Fantasy' shows that its more than just electronic entertainment. These games are STORIES about honor, duty, sacrifice, love, betrayal, friendship, etc. Granted the stories can be repetitive there is a reason these games still endure.

Jump to about 5:50 and listen to the final part of the chocobo song (I think it´s more impressive that way) About half a minute later this song starts playing and Jeez it´s one of the most breathtaking piece of music I´ve ever heard.

Violence is just human nature, Video Games weren't around during the Dark ages, World War I and II, and all the other wars. Murder is not a new concept it has been around since forever. Its illogical to think that violence is caused by video games, and not by all other influnces which cause it. In fact there has been no change is murders since video games came out, maybe even LESS violence. And now listen to the music, how can video games "be the devil"?

Holy shit the other day I heard this tune and the Chocobo tune on a classical radio station. Granted, it was a remix, but it was freaking awesome to hear something by Nobuo Uematsu on the radio. I recorded this part of it and I may upload it someday just for kicks. But yeah, we should totally have more music like this on classical radio stations.

@LucasHorclox Yes. I mean I do love several shooting games myself (especially Goldeneye 007 and Perfect Dark!), but the older generations seem to believe this is the ONLY genre, and that ONLY ten-year-olds play them.
