  • Nice. Which dos version of ghost?

  • Pete you do rock. Came to your site for the DV2000 reflow repair. First real repair I have found. Out of curiosity what are DOD machines, and who makes these things?

  • @avgoris Thanks for the kind words.. We are getting really good with the DV2000's and made a lot of improvements I will post on shortly.

DOD is Department of Defense certified.. This one was CES and has fixed thousands of drives in the couple years I have had it.

    All the best,

    -Pete

  • How much did the DOD station cost you?

  • @DeusMalleus Under $1K 4-5 years ago.

  • pete u rock bro thnk u soooo much

Lots more to come. Im glad you found it useful

  • thanks pete. so would you recommend i just send you the hard drive itself outside of the plastic casing that the western digitals come in?

  • Just the drive is fine.

I will let you know as soon as I get it.

    -Pete

  • pete, i'm hoping that i can get my hard drive out to you when i can find a huge load of spare cash. Is there anyway to just have you extract the information from the hard drive rather then spend all this time repairing the drive? I only ask because i know that 500GB HD's are like $80 I do however need the info that is on it and can't remember what you mentioned price wise.

  • Most of the time I need to buy an exact match hard drive.. That way if the controller is bad I can swap that out.. Also if the heads need to be changed we can do that too.

Sometimes I can get them up and running without swapping out parts but I would have to see it first.

Its always Free for us to look at it and give a quote.

  • pete, dropped you a e-mail. I really need some help getting information on my ticking Western Digital My Book Premium 500GB External HD

    -Pete

    Lots more to come.

  • Had two EHDs that went bad, they were cheaper Fantom Greens, 1TB and 500GB. I brought them into a local recovery specialist and they were only able to recover small amounts so I just asked them to stop so I wouldn't be charged, both were full of videos and music. My question is what would make TWO NEWER external HDs that worked just fine hours before, go bad after I moved my pc to another room and re-connected and re-powered correctly? I have two 1TB internals now. Don't trust externals anymore.

  • Sounds like a power spike to me.. Get yourself a nice UPS. that will smooth out the voltage. A lot of the externals have very cheap power supplies with not enough filtering. The UPS will help with that.

Hope you have a great weekend,

    -Pete

  • my seagate 7200 320gb doesn't read... just beeps every few seconds... what if you can't repair with dod/ghost and have to open it up.. can you do that?

  • Hello,

Sure we can take care of that for you..

We can fix almost any type of drive.

We support many state run opps and get things that have been dead for years.

    -Pete

  • what about replacing damaged HDD PCB's ?

  • Hello thanks for the question.. We repair HDD PCB's if they are repairable. If not we do replace them. We also can replace heads if needed as well.

Hope you had a great weekend,

    -Pete

  • am having error my HD when ever i want to format it says... Setup is inspecting your computer's hardware configaration

please can u help me as soon as you can

  • Fill the MBR with zeros..

  • I have a request when you get the time, i have seen a lot of videos about making your WiFi Signal better, do you know of any tips? or any way to make a pci wireless adapter antenna better? you seem to know a lot about computers so i thought i would ask. Thanks

  • Great question.. And there are MANY ways to make them better.

The cheapest being get an Antenna with DB Gain

For every 3 DB gain you have its like doubling your WATT Power

I would get an antenna with the MAX DB you can find. The other is an amplifier coupled with a better Antenna. thats the best.

I will think that one out and do a vid.

    -Pete

  • how about for HDs can't be recognized by the BIOS?

  • Great question. the green board on the bottom side is bad and needs to be replaced. Thats the controller. Pretty easy just a couple screws and you can swap that out.

    -Pete

  • This is great information, I spent HUNDREDS of dollars with a data recovery center after I knocked my external hard drive of my desk! Thanks, katie
