Dan, haven't done the custom harp thing yet myself. Manji's, Seydel are as close as I have gotten. One thing I know though, is that you are going to haven't to adjust your playing to keep from destroying your hot rodded harps. That's where the question of all custom or not is kinda moot.
@LarryTranberg This is very true. I have trouble playing my customs on stage for this very reason. I think one has to adapt to any new harmonica, but the custom adaptation is more extreme. My fear, is losing the ability to play stock harmonicas. I'd hate to "gear myself out" of certain situations. There's a video on my page of me playing with Rod Piazza last spring. I had to play one of his crappy harps. I coule barely play it. If I was custom-adapted, I would have sucked really bad.
@koolcat73 I pronounce it as I heard Chris pronounce it. Different families pronounce names different ways. Even when a pronunciation seems strange to me, I recognize that I am not the center of the universe and respect the other person and what they want to call themself.
my harmonica has 15 holes....can you make some vids about those? i just got it and i don't really know anything about harmonicas....sorry for the bad english i'm from portugal
hey, I just wannt to thank you! you know i love playing the blues on my guitar, and i never thought of playing another instrument before... but then I saw your videos... and because of you I'm going to buy a C and an A Hohner Harmonica tomorrow :) Thank you for introducing me this beautiful instrument!! Cheers from Luxembourg!
@jellygoeswobble I still play mostly stock Special 20's. I have two Michalek customs and two Harrison custom Marine Bands. I'm waiting for 2 B-Radical harmonicas, as well.
Great, thanks! By the way, your video on bending is the first one that's actually been useful to me - everyone else doesn't seem to be able to explain it but you did a wonderful job! Thank you again, and please keep the videos coming.
when I ordered, he didn't give me any options. i think he advanced his pricing system over time. The cover plates are open, the reed posts are coated, the reeds overblow pretty easily, and the thing is way louder than stock. that's all I know for sure. I'll ask chris if you want, though.
@ZackPomerleau Zack. I was watching some of your vids the other day. I get so many comments that I didn't notice who you were until now. Just wanted to say that you are a "PLAYER". I was seriously impressed.
Woah! Seriously man, this means a lot coming from you. I've always found your videos to be cool and I like how you're helping people out. Thanks for the kind words, it really does mean a lot to me! :)

Hi. Thanks. I enjoyed your report. What's your opinion about differently tuned harps?
I play blues harp myself and I never could imagine, playing a harp tuned in e.g. minor, whole tone or dorian or sth.
