  • 8:06 scarryy roar

  • i always wish this was still around so i could take my kids there today.

  • THIS IS WHERE BENSONS USED TO BE!

  • reminds me of Blair witch project

  • interesting video. i wish it didn't close so i could go there, but i was born to late! : (

  • Anyone else think that the new Bensons Park would be a good place for a haunted hayride type deal??

  • I work at benson's, I personally just tore down the gorilla cage to redisgn the ehtire structure due to rot and mold in the wood

  • the first cage was the gorrilla cage

  • The park sure looks a lot nicer now in 2010 then in did 3 years ago when you posted this video. The park is reopening to the public Memorial Day 2010 as a passive recreational Park. (The shoe is being restored), the elephant barn is cleaned up and may become a museum and much more). Also the park is now under watch and when open to the public it will be patrolled by the police for safety and monitored by staff.

  • @michaelmlt

    Really? Awesome!

  • My grandfather and mother brought us here a few times back in the eighties. I totally forgot about the old woman in the shoe until I saw it again, total flashback.

Did anyone else notice the Tiger like growl at 8:04 ?

  • I grew up in Salem, and I guess we were just a Canobie family. We never really made it to Benson's that much. Looking at this makes me wish we had. Maybe someday, everyone will stop moping about all the dead amusement parks (Whalom, Pirate's Fun Park), shut off all the MP3 players and X Boxes, and open some new ones. :D

  • Devon?

  • Shhhhh.

  • fuck those 2 items a good ol fashion amusement park with adrenlian rushing rides with some good food and other shit makes those 2 things lame any day of the week

yes I love music and video games don't get me wrong but a good ol fashion amusement park makes summer complete

  • I don't mind a new one as long as it's not some six flags clone shit I'd rather have a simple amusement park.

would be cool if someone would buy some of the old ones and restore them to origionality or build that same park somewhere else in or outside the origional town.

  • I don't see any new ones being built til 2016 - 2023 if some of these amusement parks still held on through out the late 80's to the 00's they would be having some good sales today being no one wants to travel too far from home for a six flags

and instead stay close where it's cheap

  • rockpaperskizors - the rides are gone. they probably sold them when they closed the park.

  • true I sure as hell wouldn't leave something there like that the tilt a whirl being those things are 300k and the other rides being the same as that or more

your just lucky to find something used that costs as much as a new merdeces

  • did you ever find any of the rides? it only looked like you saw the cages. im hopefullying going there to to explor in a few days with my friends but i was wondering if the ferris wheel is still there...

  • I Pass the place where the entrance was all the time sooo sad D:

  • funny they havent taken the two story pile of espestos and dirt thats been there for years.

  • I go walking in there every week, its sad that people litter and spray paint everything in there. I better never catch anyone doing that when im there!

  • Wow! There really was a Benson's Animal Farm! I thought Dane Cokk might have just made that up for effect. Very cool! I'm fascinated by abandoned places.

  • it would be cool if dane made bigger $ then what he does now and opened the place

  • see that mad smilie face that was mine lol

  • esbestos isent pink, thats fiberglass

  • Dane Cook!!!!

    :D

  • I bet Dane Cook saw this, and showed his dad...lmfao

  • Who is Dane Cook?

  • dane Cook is a famous comedian and told a joke about his dad never taking him to Bensons

  • @Nypintha Really? you dont know who Dane Cook is?

  • @Nypintha !!!! YOU DONT KNOW WHO DANE COOK IS!? D:< OMG!

  • @MatthewHParker

    Hahahaha Yeah I know right?

  • BENSON'S ANIMAL FARM!!!!

  • I have always wanted to explore the Benson's grounds... Is the red wood log house still there? If it is I'm totaly going to steal it.

  • Nice video. So sad to see it this way now. I worked there from 1980-82. The first building you came across was indeed the gorilla cage. The barn you were in was the elephant barn. That kitchen inside the barn was a multi-purpose area used for things such as incubators for the jaguar cubs, tarantulas and snake photos in the winter season.

  • So many great memories here as a kid.....thanks for posting!

  • i was wondering when the asbestos would come in., Did u know they had an elephant for about 10 years later? then it either dies or moved to florida

  • I barely remember going there, but my parents still have a bensons stein glass....and i bet my mom has a closet full of photos ! too bad some jackarse decided to to soil the earth w/ his asbestos! I hope they do turn it into a park, maybe something nice with "stations" that show what used to be there when Bensons was in existance....

  • Sadly some SOB coming did some ilegal dumping of that cancer causing fiber we all so love(not) and that is holding up the ownership being giving to Hudson, NH and them converting the property to a town/city park. The area really needs such a park to and why let the area continue to rot. Clean it out or make it into a park. The state has caused enough damage to the property along with the punk low life criminals. (P.s I think Shorty's Mexican roadhouse in Nashua NH has a sign from the park)

  • you can see a lot of old benson stuff at the grandview flea market.

  • I used to work at Benson's during the mid to late 70s (I drove the train, LOL) thanks for the memories, kind of sad to see what has happened to it.

    Thanks for posting the video.

  • They are thinking of converting it into a park. I think that would be nice - it's a lovely piece of land. You probably drove the train when I rode it! (Mid to late 70s I was there a lot).

  • I loved the train i remmeber when it used to go through the woods and there were like carvings .
