My husband is in the Army and I want to be as fit as him. I tried to do the sit-up like in the video but my feet went flat. Also I only made it into a crunch position.
really helpful!! thanx. i started to do some PT last week after over 12 years of inactivity ( except for work ) and i need to be able to meet the minimum requirement and more when i'll go to the MEPS. by the way i'm 33 years old hoping to enlist ASAP
OMG i remember doing this last night i did about 11 sit ups and i was really tired i was so desperate to get my 12th halfway to it i put so much strength on it it made me fart and i just dropped my head down off laughter.
sounds like your hip flexors, does it feel like the top inner part of your thigh? if so, then just do more sit ups and flutter kicks, eventually it will go away.
That will fade as your abdomen gets stronger. Try to vary your workout routine and do different variations of ab workouts, like flutterkicks, heels to sky, etc. It takes a couple weeks, but with regular 3 times a week ab workouts your sit ups on your PT test will improve. I'm in the AF and I brought my sit ups from a very difficult to reach 50 to an easy to reach 60. The only reason I couldn't do more is that we only have a minute to do as many as we can, and I can't do them fast. Good luck!
Sit ups aren't really bad for your back unless you are using improper form when executing them. Most people that I see do them incorrectly and as a result end up hurting their backs or even their necks. Same thing with crunches. Like the SSG Ken said, start off slow, making sure to keep your form as perfect as possible. Work on getting used to the motions while keeping strict form, and when you've got it down, work your way up. Like anything it takes time and effort. Good Luck
Depending on the position that you maintain, Sit-ups can cause some pain for your lower back and hips. Perform them slowly until you are strong enough to maintain proper form. HOOAH!
Man i cant even do 5. This embarrassing on my part. The sit ups are the only thing holding me back. My running and push ups are great. Got any other tips other then this routine to strengthen my abs?
Hey, ima bout 2 go 2 meps in a few days and hopefully pass, then soon after off to army basic... Im alright on situps and pushups.. but im tanking on my running, My fastest mile is 8:30 sec then im beat..not fast enough..u got any suggestions on improving running?
try running as though you are throwing your feet forward, just land on your front foot, not use all of your foot, only run on your frontpart of foot. Your arms must go in the direction you are running, not to the sides.
Hello, Manny! Abdominals CAN be exercised every day. Pay close attention to the tenderness in your muscles and joints. Rest will help the pain go away. HOOAH!
:) I use to hate sit up's but the water aerobics class I am taking has made me get MUCH stronger in my core to be able to do them better! :D You were my motivation for doing it though! :D
I'm a GIRL trying to do push-ups *DOH~!! =]]* But whenever I do this my legs go up in the air but my stomach still hurts...that IS normal, right...??
I just can't keep my feet on the ground...!!
=DD

If you have a fat stomach, will doing sit ups regularly eventually give one a slimmer stomach?

Thanks for the videos! When I take PT tests I always get cramps in my inner thighs around 50 reps during the sit ups. Do I just need to stretch more?

Hooah! is a chant they have used in the U.S. Army for a long time. No one knows the origin, though. Never saw the Al Pacino movie "Scent Of a Woman"?

Hello SGT!
I was wondering, how is that that you have a really massive budy?
Did you get it only from doing bodyweight exercises?
I wanna get this mass also, do i have to go in the gym?
HOOAH! :)
kplt1234 3 years ago 33
I weight train twice a week now to maintain the mass muscle tissue. I perform my sets with heavy weights and low reps. HOOAH!
