The real Amy Lee was discovered by Joe Elliott of Def Leppard in '83 at age 15. The singer takes her stagename for the songwriter who named the band & for Amy Lynn Carter, daughter of Pres. Jimmy Carter. Kurt Cobain was on tour with DL in '83. His friend Kathleen Hanna named her band Amy Carter. Singers mother's name for Sara Lee Bakery & father for John Mutt Lange who produced Pyromania. I know the real story, not the scripted version or what Hollywood wants you to believe.

I was 15 in 1983 and wrote the songs for Evanescence and named what I thought would be my future band in '83. But, due to a falling out with Joe Elliott of Def Leppard and Mutt Lange would not let this happen.

One of the first songs I wrote for Evanescence as a teen is Sweet Sacrifice after Joe Elliott of Def Leppard & I had been working on Pour Some Sugar On Me. I came up with the line "Step inside, WALK THIS WAY" using Walk This Way from Aerosmith's Toys In The Attic album. On the same album is Sweet Emotion hence the idea to write Sweet Sacrifice with Toys in the Attic being a euphemism for insanity inspiring "we're all a little insane"

@Boddahism I didn't say the lyrics for Sweet Sacrifice.  The song is Pour Some Sugar On Me. This was the first song I co-wrote with Joe Elliott of Def Leppard in 1983. Sweet Sacrifice followed and was inspired by writing Pour Some Sugar On Me.
