I'd back off on the vibrato for your audition -- its too heavy here, still a great performance, but I prefer iit more earthy and light.

i like the lightness of her voice, i felt at the "should I scream and shout" part the timing was a bit dodgy though!

Im just looking at different videos of Mary deciding whether to audition for the part.,.. ive noticed some of them use vibrato alot, and others dont... so not sure of which approach to try!

I would not say overacting. Rather a bit awkward or undecided at times with her interpretive movements. Still, I would much prefer to see someone 'overact' this song than remain disengaged like so many of the divas who have performed the piece in the past. To me, this song was intended to by embodied -- not showcased -- and I feel that Sharon Campbell does this as well, if not better, than most. Kudos.

One of my favorite performances of this song on youtube. I love it. Also, to reply to the comment that the acting is overdone, that's part of being on stage. You need to get things across to the people in the back of the room too, it's not as easy as a movie camera close up.

Hi everyone. Sharon tuning in here. I was so chuffed to find this on You Tube and tickled pink over the fine comments most of you have made - you have no idea how great that makes me feel. Someone asked if I was the Sharon Campbell that had recorded this and other musical hits. No I'm not, but I do know of her. I have a rock band background which is why we don't really sound alike! Did Sharon used to be pro? I only ask because I have a couple of compilation CDs including her singing some other Lloyd Webber stuff. I wasn't that struck with the studio versions, but it seems like she's one of those artists who is ok in the studio but fantastic live.
