i agree though, whatever event you've chosen to focus on, you will know how to push yourself the hardest for that event and thus will have the most pain in it
i think it's a matter of opinion and also depends on what kind of runner you are..
but i actually agree with fretarch, the order's 800, 400, and mile, not putting any less emphasis on the mile or anything but the 800 is just pure torture..
the last 100 meters of a 400 is horrid, but when you're running the 800 it's the ENTIRE last 300 meters you have to get through..
in the mile, however, you have a breather here and there and for some people an entire lap to recharge
i dont agree. the mile is the hardest to run. i've ran the 800 hundred bfor but i still think the mile is the hardest as far as middle distance running.
@FretArchitect i fucking agree.. hell yeah. im in hign school and I have ran all those. the mile is a pain is the ass, 400m is a back breaker, 800m is a death sentence. freshmen year (14 yrs of age) 400m- 53.12 800m- 2:05 mile- 4:55. im trying to beat the record this year, 49.02.
Thank you StreetPunkStudios. Real runners agree. I myself ran the 400 in high school and bottomed out at 48.5, with a 1:55 800. Those are definitely impressive times that you've run for so young, I only ran about 54 my freshman year in the 400. Good luck with your record breaking attempt man, keep working hard.
@cbcc4ever I have to agree. I run the 800m, the mile, and the 4x400, and I have discovered how easy it is to run the 400 even after the mile. Don't get me wrong, the 400 is a BRUTAL race. But I have to say the 800 is harder, simply because the whole second lap has to be sub-60 second pace to get a great time.
@AmbientMW a 4x400 leg is different than an open 400, unless you have run an open 400 then you havent experienced the real race and yeah the 800 and 400 are not harder then the other they are both equally ass kicking, I haven't even run a great time on the 800 and I still think its hard
@dal4018 True, he got back with Hart last year and now he's slowly coming back, he's already ran a WL and SB of 44.13 this year in Zurich so I'm sure he'll be back in the 43's consistently again next year.
@phastman1994 Hey yes when Merritt returns from his two yr ban and Bolt seriously thinks about taking up the 400 we will see how good your guy really is.
@dal4018 I'm sure with training and determination Bolt could possibly challenge MJ's WR. You still think Merritt is better than Wariner even though he doped though? I don't think so.
@dal4018 Boy what are you talkin about? lol All I said was that Wariner is back, which showed in Zurich when he ran 44.13 (much faster than his SB last year of 44.6), I'm not comparing Wariner to Bolt (yet) I'm just sayin he's better than Merritt who used DHEA, another words he cheated. Like I said I'm sure Bolt could potentially challenge Johnson's 400m WR if he puts his mind to it and trains for it. btw Bolt and Johnson are my favorite sprinters but I still have lots of respect for Wariner.
@dal4018 Yeah even though he got tested positive for DHEA which shows that he couldn't have run those times WITHOUT PED's, I'm sure we'll see when "your guy" gets slaughtered by Wariner (and probably Bolt if he's trained for it) in London.
@phastman1994 As stated before now that your guy has his coach back the next two yrs the whole world will see if he's returned to his form of '04.He reminds me of the race horse "Seabiscuit" undersized but plent of power &talent well he will meet his "War Admiral" in the form of Bolt and if he ever gets his hands on the 400WR it will never leave Jamaica that is a promise!!!!!!!!! It will be under 43 a prediction 42.66!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I think this guy should be ashamed of himself with his attitude by winning Silver and how he shunned the news reporter. What a big baby! Get over yourself!
also, did you, or anybody else happen to notice if, during the 4x400 meter relay medals ceremony (usa ended up winning gold), the men put their hands over their hearts during the anthem? it didn't look like it to me. but i can't be sure, the camera was just focused on their 4 faces. if they weren't, that was pretty disrespectful to their country.
He should win, but yeah he does have some slight competition. The world record will definitely be broken at this olympics. We love you Jeremy you are the heart and pride of American Track N Field right now.
@dal4018 Idk yet but if I were to guess now I would say 43.3-43.5 with serious training. Who knows maybe he will break 43.18 but thats just my prediction.
