this is an ass cover. don't get me wrong, the Dandys are great, but Courtney sounds like a drunk guy shouting and I love the distortion/feedback, but there's nothing special about it here...I'll take Gordon Lightfoot original 100 times out of 100.

This is how it should Sound, OTT and intense, not like Gordon Litefeet's Muppet version..it's a death-Durge song about men drowning too young in an ice-cold lake, for Christ's sake!
I always thought that Courtney Taylor-Taylor had three types of voices: his whisper (We Used To Be Friends), his normal voice (Bohemian Like You), and his falsetto (Plan A). But here, I think he's got a fourth voice, that kind of inner pain, like rockers of yesteryear. It's the most soulful voice I've ever heard on a Dandy's record.
Fooking awesome, thanks for the High quality audio, awesome..I want to hear this thru an excellent amp and speakers (Single-ended triode amp would be killer :)
this is so much better because it's the slow version of the dandys that had to be reigned in. they were very slow (is it a peter thing?) i really love the slow stuff like green & i
I LOVE this version.... it is much better than the other version they did (which has the full title of Gordon lightfoot's original, "The Wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald")... and the original is fantastic too of course!
Yeah, but I'm wondering why it's so completely different from the version titled "The Wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald"?? They're obviously "the same song" (a cover) etc. , but why the different arrangements etc. ? I do prefer this one over the other they do, though.

How so?
Idiotic is the fact that you obviously don't comprehend what you are reading and "quoting" who knows what in a desperate attempt to make a valid point.
I think the reason is that The Black Album, which this version is from, was going to be their second album, but it was rejected by the record company, and at the point they rejected it, it was at the... maybe not demo stage, but not finished, and not produced and cleaned up... which is why the Black Album is so lo fi... and I imagine that their thoughts of doing another version was to do a "finished", fully produced and mastered version.... though I agree this version is way, way better...
What a fabulous, cold and spooky version of a wonderful song

A haunting tribute to the lead singer's cousin, Third Mate Michael Armagost, who died in the wreck.

That makes NO sense, whatsoever. "Why go to a concert, when you've got the CD at home...??" WTF

Who and what exactly are you quoting and what reference does it have to me?
rockabillysilly 2 years ago
It's not exactly a direct quote, and it references the fact that you're an idiot.

That's it? That's all you had left? The typical bitch then block routine, right? Very, um, left wing of you...and typical. But have it your way.
