  • That sound sounding every four seconds is indeed off-putting.

  • 8x100= 800

    3x10=30

    800+30=830

    8-7=1

    830+1=831

  • It's vey offputting

    No wonder at 0:00 onwards dictionary corner only got 5!

  • i listened to it with my headphones and i didnt like the sound

  • Music & graphics is a something I am passionate about, If I had to complain about countdown I would say that the title sequences have become too boringly predictable in recent years, after all flying letters and numbers around the screen is too common on some programmes these days.

    Take a look at those tiles from 1989 - 1992, they were very good there is a lot going on there; some calulation, a stopclock, words made up from countdown in alternate red and white, some calculations and so on

  • I liked this variation on the clock music, it provides a nice releif from hearing the same constant melody for 30 seconds and without looking at the clock you also know that after those 3 notes have gone, 3 times over that next will be the last five seconds flurish.

  • do you hate the sound of it

  • Yes

  • Why exactly did people complain, i know it was something to do with the music but why did they complain exactly

  • According to the Countdown book, comments included things such as:

    * "It's awful"

    * "Get rid of it... It's more depressing that Whiteley"

    * It reminds of a funeral I was at recently"

    It looks as though the viewers hated the sound of it and producer John Meade reverted back to the original music part way through the series.
