I can totally relate to this. As a child, I would always excel highly above my peers in science. After I was diagnosed with autism (age 12) I begun to grow very interested in reading and writing. That's why in 6th grade, I read at an 8th grade level. :p Now, at age 36, I am indeed a writer, although I still find science quite fascinating. :)
well Taylor you have given me hope for my daughter who is Autistic, watching this video was like looking at my own daughter, but also seeing what she can achieve. well done with how far you have come, you are a truley amazing talented young lady. your videos have taught me a lot and helped me to understand my daughter now, rather than none of us knowing how to help her. im now showing your videos to friends and family to help them understand also.
i have aspergers growing up they did not labeled me that i was labeled seletive mute and trouble child and slow learner but when i became an adult they put me as aspergers i do have other learning issues along with aspergers like adhd and tourrettes and reading and spelling
I have a 3 year old son who has classic autism and is non-verbal. He is in early intervention now for almost 3 months and has made significant progress though still not talking intelligible phrases. I hope one day he will finally talk to me, to his daddy and to his baby sister. Your video gives me hope.
i have high funtioning asperges was diagnosed in 1994 im now 20 years old yes iv come a long way but its taken most of my life to get where i am now at 14 my parents thought i wasn't going to be able to drive a car because i used to get really pissed off but over the years iv got better at controlling it now i fit in with the crowd and i find that driving relaxs me its what i do to enter my world away from the stress of everyday life i would like to get to know you better do you have facebook?
I like your video. It is so cool you start to communicate every year. I like your videos, it helps me learn more about myself and my aspergers and know that their are people with aspergers like me.
I hope you if you have time will see my videos and comment on them. My mom is my biggest supporter too and she loves to watch my videos and she says that they are cute. I hope you will think that they are cute too.
Thank you for sharing your life with us! I am researching Asperger Syndrome for a class and wanted to let you know I am going to share this with everyone. Can't wait to see more of what you create!
Thank you GOD!!!!This is so inspiring.. thank you, for i know one day we will have enough research to teach us how to breakthrough these communication barriers, and meet each one of these incredible human beings.....
I just wanted to thank you for sharing your story and your view on life with autism. My older brother has moderately severe autism and despite the communication barrier, he does a lot of the same things you do- he makes good eye contact and he's very social. You are a beautiful and brilliant young woman! At 21 years old, I can't say that I know many people in our age group that have overcome something that was thought to be unfixable. I wish you all the best! :D
wow This is amazing. Gives me great hope. My son is high functioning. He is very smart. He has some speach delay and communication problem. I hope for the best. Taylor ! how many siblings do you have and does any one else in your family has autism? Please tell me.
and old enough to look after myself, I have been going to therapy and taking the medicine anyway and I am making some progress. The thing I still struggle so much with though are my racing thoughts, my mind is about 100 times faster than my body! Also, I have mutiple phobias and sensitivities that seem to rule my life. Anyway I am going on and on like I do, but thanks so much for this, it has made me feel alot less ashamed of how I am and even more determined to keep fighting the struggles!!! x
videos for the last few days, as I have been looking into ways of getting around my problems and I have found you so inspiring and you have given me hope and a big dose of determination to keep trying!! It is such a struggle everyday, but I really want to achieve as much as you have! I am not as lucky to have such great parents as yours and they refuse to believe all these diagnoses are true, and don't really want me having therapy or medication. Luckily, over the past year now that I am 21
You are absolutely wonderful! I have High Functioning Autism, Dyspraxia and A.D.D, which are a really frustating combination of problems to have to deal with. I have a highly intelligent and creative mind like yours thanks to my Autism, but because of my Dyspraxia I have awful co ordination and balance and am very clumsy and awkward. Then because of my A.D.D I can barely stay focused on one thing for five minutes and I confuse and make myself angry all the time. I have been watching your
my brother was diagnosed at a very young age as well and he goes to college with me getting straight A's as well! i think people who write autism off as though they will never be "normal" (rolling eyes) are just nuts!
but anywho i love how you explain things to all of us with "normal syndrome". keep going, you are amazing!
What about 60 yrs ago - when professionals would've barely heard about autism, forget the "spectrum"?
And right now I'm asking: would you, great Taylor Morris that you are today, have been exactly the same, without the "diagnosis"?
I bet you would!
And your mom would've done the same great job!
To conclude , autism *might* be a "disorder", but the "spectrum" thingy - allow me respectfully see it as good business for psychologists, and nothing more.
Hi Taylor : your videos are really inspiring, I put them with my friends on facebook and on the Autism Speaks Network...Tks for sharing and keep going ...you are awesome...my son is a handsome 5 years old Dx PDD-NOS but I will do the world for him...I took him off dairy, but I'm not sure about the Pediasure that I'm giving ???God bless you.
i have aspergers and its tough but its meant to be something beneficial for me even though no one ever helped me at all in my life with it im still fighting.... i taught myself what the world is, what is man and his nature and how to cope with them maybe one day i wont be alone anymore.....
I find it interesting that you had to eat soy to get better, and I have to avoid soy. But I also have to avoid non organic meat and dairy. Also, I was never so autistic that my parents thought to take me in, I'm 27 so in the 80s people didnt think milder forms were anything related to autism. However, it is heartening to see that someone else suffers similar food induced autism as I do. Thank you for sharing.
Wow, you are truly inspirational. I have Asperger's, but am nowhere near as awesome as you. Give your mom a big hug, because I think parents make a huge difference. I don't have parents to help me. I take care of myself, which is probably why I haven't progressed. I hope to some day be like you. Thanks for making this video.
taylor, you are a shining light, a breath of fresh air, a truly remarkable young woman and an inspiration to all. we are so happy to discover your beautiful videos and your remarkable story. i am the father od an autistic son, now 11 years old and you give us such hope and wonder. thank you. i am posting this and your videos to my fb page.
Thank you ever so much for sharing you have given me loads of hope for my twin boys. On whom is is on the spectrum and one currently being diagnosed.. Thank you
You are an inspiration to all children with Autism. Thankyou Taylor, I was feeling at my wits end but after watching your videos have hope to fight another day.. :)
Love how you do not feel obligated to hide the 'medical' side of Autism in a bid to deny there are difficulties and how you demonstate the positives and show you are a happy person.
This is a really inspirational video Taylor. I can identify a lot with the difficulties you describe that you had as a small child. I am so glad you received help and support - to make you the very able person you have now become!
I'm happy to see someone who has had the support they needed in life, to deal with their troubles, and be happy in spite of everything they've had to face.
It gives me hope that maybe I can overcome my troubles too.
I have a son who is Asperger's...last yr that was the diagnosis...I understand that a lot of children get misdiagnosed such as aspergers and ADHD...I know that diet plays a huge role in their lives...love the video...
I'm an undiagnosed Aspie (long story) and I have a naturally creative mind. It has been little-used at present, as I cannot organise my life very well. I am unable to settle anywhere and can't look after myself very well.
I don't have a close relationship with my parents (I haven't physically seen my mother for four years) and can't relate to them at all.
I want to get back into my creativity (writing and filmmaking), but I feel too lost in uncertainty.
