This is my favourite song off BW's LOS album. Just like his wonderul "California Feelin" composition some years back, this track adds yet a further new overlay to BW's portfolio of that timeless "California Sound". In fact, I can see how these "Calif." specific kinda songs by Brian, in reality, constitute a natural "higher-plane", more sophisticated evolution of that basic Calif. Sound which he himself pioneered, way back in the early 60s. This tune stays in your head long after playing it ..
I heard Brian sing this live in October 2009 and the world stopped for 3 or 4 minutes. As a California girl Brian is just in my blood, but to hear this and think of him during those days with his brothers... it was very emotional.
Cool to know Brian was in studio 2 days before we started our 3 day session, however his crew raided the t-shirt closet and there was just enough t-shirts for our crew!! BTW-Ken Scott asked our permission to do a short video in studio 2 so we obliged and took a break so he could film!
and if anyone has any doubts about whether or not this is pre recorded or not, just ask yourselves this...why did they wait so long after the count in to start playing?...cos the producers had to quiet the mics and instruments and start the record playing...but if you still need proof watch brians lip sync fail at 0:25 when he says "brothers"...i am a long time fan so im not criticising him, but it is lip syncing..no doubt. great song though, and a legend of an artist
So what if they are lip synching? There are valid reasons for doing that sometimes. People shouldn't overanalyze things so much...it takes from the enjoyment of the music and Brian does make enjoyable music that's for sure.
yes you are right vegas, it is very obvious that this is just a video cut for the track, but aside from that, you can really hear brians homage for his brothers in this track, there may not be direct reference but its all in there, in between the lines and the music, you can feel it
Yes it sounds great but you do realize they are lip-syncing right? It's very well done but those are not studio mics they are singing into, they are rehearsal mics. And music this complex is never recorded altogether but in layers. The sound on the vocals is clearly being generated from studio mics not those cheapies. Keep in mind that it would be virtually impossible to get so many notes to be precise, even for such amazing musicians. But this is a promo video so it is understandable. Good tune
A banda que ele escalou é realmente impressionante, vozes lindas, bem colocadas, destaque pro próprio Brian, a voz dele envelheceu perfeitamente, canta muito ainda.
Em alguns momentos, lembram os velhos Beach Boys reunidos, tamanha a competência desse time.
Como seria lindo vê-los novamente unidos tocando os clássicos...
i agree with you. the band that brian hired are magnificent. they make brian look and sound real good. the wondermints are from southern california, the other band is from chicago. brian works with the wondermints more often. co-founders nick and darian.
Brian is really beautiful!!

This album totally captures Southern Cali like nothing I've ever heard.
Problem is, it's the only place I can listen to the album. I guess I have no choice but to stay there.

I'm sure BW did not give it a thought, but I like how he excluded ML from his dream :)

this sounds different than the lp version so i doubt it's lip synched.
KCVROCKS2008 3 years ago
There's a bit of lag between video and audio.
This isn't synched
