  • Very good short

  • SMOKING KILLS. :D

  • The farmer need not call back, due to the fact he was not crossing with a large/ slow vehicle. Authority numbers are not issued at UWC's and a caution would have only been issued for the open gates, after a report of them being open, had been recieved. However, the signaller did not establish-Location of Xing. Type of vehicle. Time required to cross. In these circumstances the next train should have been cautioned. The trains concerned may have been in section already So cautioning not possible.

  • dang and the us where have arlams but why do the class 178 or 156 go so dang fast

  • Where did you get this from??? Is this from a series of accidents like this?? I am currently preparing a first aid course for a group of farmers and think this would be good to use? If that is ok with you?

  • If that tractor was a case it would of just drove away

  • why does the train change half way through the clip, one minute hes driving a class 153 then the close up of driver in cab is a 170?

  • Unless regulations have been severely relaxed since my days (which is doubtful) this should not have happened. The driver would have been given a unique sequence number which he would have had to report to the signalman when he was clear. Failing to receive confirmation that the crossing was clear, the signalman would have to stop trains and tell them to approach the crossing with caution being prepared to stop short of any obstruction.

  • @madmax200769 You only need to do that long, low or slow vehicles. The range rover is not in that class of vehicle, so you DON'T need to issue the number.

  • @AndrewNeilClarkson Again, my experience is from BR days but that would apply to AOCR, AOCL, AHB etc. not occupation crossings, farm crossings etc. Where there is no confirmatory system then an inherently unsafe mode of operation is in place and an accident is guaranteed over time. We used to have a book for such crossings and make an entry for each use. The signalman also failed to confirm whether or not the vehicle was in that class of vehicle (long/slow).

  • @AndrewNeilClarkson Oh yes, the video makers might also have chosen the camera angle carefully to avoid revealing that this crossing was protected by semaphore stop signal(s) (not marked out of use) which meant that a safe system of working the crossing could be implemented by requesting confirmation the crossing was clear and the gates closed and on failure to receive information cautioning the next train. This is a failure of a lax system not the farm worker

  • That is a very irresponsible train driver, at the immediate sight of danger a driver should always apply the emergency brake. It's there for a reason.

  • @NIR111Class Eeeermmmmmm, with 150 tonnes and more behind you and iron on iron, a train will never stop in time, even if the emergency breaks have been applied.

Depending on the speed, enght and weight of the train, it can take up half a mile up to more then a mile to stop

    Ive been driving trains myself.

Why do you think that the gates are not the other way around, so that trains should stop and open the gate? The tractor driver did not followed the rules, he's the only one to blame.

  • I like the way he fires up a big fat joint before dying. What a rush that must have been, man!

  • I dont understand the ''have you closed the gates?'' thing we dont have this in holland? or at least I think we dont ;p

  • this looks fake, but is it???

  • In the UK they had to call the operator/singalman to cross the level crossing. In Malaysia, all the drivers drove towards the level crossing without safety. There was once a tanker truck and a train collided each other. The train crashed with an explosion.

  • voll der fake

  • oha der schöne john deere und der arme farmer

  • AND THE MORAL OF THE STORY IS... DONT BE A PUSHY ASSHOLE!

  • At 4:35 the signal on the right is showing danger, it cuts away to a shot of a speeding train and at 4:38 the signal is shows clear. Disappointing :P

  • Can you imagine the confusion if the Poley Boley phoned the signal box? The signalman would have just told him to proceed just to get rid of him

  • @Poopingbotham You'd treat it as a telephone failure and stop/caution trains. It's happened to me lots of times in the past

  • 4:40 FAKE

  • 4:45 Now that MUST HAVE hurt

  • Comment removed

  • That last bit gave me the shivers it reminded me of a ghost

  • Network Rail stresses this on all of our level crossings

  • That was a good film, I reall enjoyed it. Although it does prove a powerful lesson, don't play with trains!

  • i heard a story where a tractor got hit and the engine was ripped off and keep on running tell it ran out of fuel. yes it was a john dear tractor

  • @shadow444222 judging by how a motor works it probalby is not true

  • @shadow444222 has many fuel lines other line etc

  • 4:59 ..Shit....Where am I going to get another tractor from at this hour ?

  • Bloody good show I'm afraid.Last smoke before the dying.

  • this only proves a point it doesn't matter the size or weight of the train trains don't stop dead

  • Bloody Polish.. LOL I no spek guood inglash..

  • @locouk that polish guy looks freeky

  • @locouk kurwa

  • Cell phone stikes again.

  • One simple way to avoid this kind of cock-up; don't employ someone who can't speak English! Also if this type of crossing had the R/G light it would make it clearer.

  • The signalman was equally to blame, he set the signal to clear when he hadn't received confirmation of the line being clear. A career at Burger King looks likely.

  • Good job, gets the point across.

  • in the uk you even need to call a personell to pass a crossing. it wont work in Indonesia with more than 100 people pasing by every second

  • This is a low budget safety film, very well done with no special effects.

In the US there are no manual gates, in fact on private crossings there is not even a warning.

As far as signaling the whatever, we have no phones at crossings, we are lucky to have crossing signals!

  • THUMBS UP IF YOU NOTICE THE DRIVER'S SEAT IS ON THE RIGHT!!!!!!

  • @Pompadour123 drivers seats are on the left! (guard of 19 years)

  • @whoppit47555 sorry i ment right so i put a new comment as you can see

  • This is so ridiculous there isn't words to describe how badly made this was lol

  • High praise indeed. I'll settle for "Not bad" from an ex BR Guard.

  • This is termed an "accommodation crossing" . They are used for access on private roads, farms, etc. and it's the user's responsibility to phone the signalman & get permission. These Xings exist even on lines with High Speed workings!

As far as I remember, leaving the gates open is a criminal offence, as is crossing without permission. As a public information film, it's not bad.

    (Ex-BR Guard.)

  • Automatic signals are so much morexpensive thathey do telephones instead?

Do you really think thathe village idiot, after NOT calling, would not keep checking (looking) and would take his time crossing while lighting his cigarette?

Surprised that they do not have the gates fold across the railway which will encourage users not to leave them open.

  • How did you get permission to shoot inside that trian and stuff?

  • @editedbyfailure i think its a public safety film, so its done by production teams and groups! :)

  • The guy driving the tractor scares me! lol

  • poor train. It was a Class 156 in all.

  • Some railway workers were also breaking rules, as the farm boss failed to inform the signaller that the crossing was clear, no trains should allowed to proceed except under caution until the crossing was examined, at which point the gates should have been closed.

  • poor FARMER

  • ah the poor man

  • this just proves that smoking kills

  • o_o woah I didnt know you had to call to cross...well I'm in the US which explains it

  • @86Timewarp im from the uk and ive never seen that before.

it must be a privete land

  • @86Timewarp Call to cross is on rural lines which don't warrant automatic barriers. There's loads of them in the scottish highlands.

  • I don't think that was a cig he was smoking !

  • Really good video!

  • did you notice one minute the signal for the crossing was 'on' and the next it was 'off' very realistic not!!,and the farmer is quite typical of the twats we get here in Lincolnshire!

  • Well done!

  • Excillent video!
