Fans of CGI and "good" acting--say what you must, but when I first saw this in the 7th grade, I knew it would stay with me. I'm only 23, but a movie like this has everything I love--action, vibrancy, great music, fun characters. It's my favorite adaption of Flash on screen. My favorite band does the soundtrack, and the story of the hero is timeless. It's something like this that'll take me back to when I was a weak, skinny nerd who wished he could do anything. Flash Gordon is unstoppable!

The music in this film was outstanding :) I love Queen and always will-- it brought me to know their music as a 10 year old! Side-track: in Star Wars Episode II-- maybe III not sure-- Obi Wan and Anakin take over the Chancellor's ship and there's a scene where Obi-Wan gives the finger-palm "come get some" signal and the action played out about as campy / corny as this while movie but was deadpan serious... lol.

If they can do that every seven seconds, most of the Hawkmen would've been wiped out before they could take the ship, and with no reinforcements, the few boarders get wiped out by the defending troops. Simply put, Ajax should have won.

Seriously - one of the things about this movie that I like is that everyone is clearly ENJOYING THEMSELVES. Even with the hokey dialogue. (Perhaps especially because of it!) Especially Max Von Sydow. There's a couple of shots where you can tell he's just having FUN being the Bad Guy! ^_^

Sure - If you go in expecting a GOOD movie you'll be wincing, but if you go in expecting THE BIGGEST FLASH GORDON COSPLAY SKIT EVER!!!

Her order to despatch Ajax was when Flash was detected after evac'ing from the Hawkmen's planet. Her "open Fire! All weapons" command was when Ajax, with Flash at the helm, was on a direct controlled-crash approach rather than flying that day's approach pattern. She continued..." ".... NOW! Charge the lightning field; I take personal responsibility...". OK - I am sad, but it IS frequently on in UK.
