I hope this is the next song released for the album. All you people saying that no James and D'arcy means no Pumpkins are smoking catnip. I understand James, but D'arcy contributed so little to the band. James didn't want to do it. Billy created the band ok. It's his right, as Jimmy has already said. I mean on, Siamese ALONE he wrote, produced, did lead guitar, back up parts, AND bass, but Darcy n James rode the credit wave. The sound you hear with Pumpkins in almost ANY time is Billy and Jimmy. Billy is very specific and Jimmy is very specific sounding. Throw Billy and Jimmy together ANYWHERE you have Pumpkins. ( I think YOU'RE in denial).

I think with any artist, you're always going to have the ones that follow blindly and like for the sake of liking.

With that being said, Billy has had his share of negative responses in the past few years. The 20th anniversary tour was the best example of that I believe. Not to mention the residencies.

I'm a huge fan of the band, and to be honest, I think Freak is one of the better ones of the bunch that he's put out recently. But of course, always subjective right?

I'd completely agree with you about this song being one of the better recent tunes he's come up with. I am still highly underwhelmed. At some point, you have to believe that the number of 'negative responses' aren't isolated to a few individuals and that there's something there. Honestly, if this were called anything but smashing pumpkins, I'd probably give him a pass (like Zwan, I love that record, but its no SP record) and would be less critical of it.
