I took a break for three years but now I am a student and I teach.
I don't know if you want any pointers or not, if you don't then disregard it but I think you might benefit from working on keeping your hips above your heels when you plie. That should help with your turnout. Good luck and congratulations for going back to ballet :)
SO good if you want that long, lean look. I was an overweight pre-teen & started ballet. By the time I was 13, I grew 4" but stayed the same weight (thnx to the 2 hour warm-ups). I've never had a problem since w/my weight (I am now 26)! Ballet is even better than Yoga/Pillates-it prepares your body to be elegantly lean, never skinny or bony. I still do some warm-ups each day to keep in shape. It's amazing how little by little, your body just falls into the right places when you take care of it.
Hi artprep. When I was 16 I wanted to take ballet lessons but I had no money to pay, I offer myself to work at the studio. I did the cleaning for almost one year, cleaning the classrooms, the mirrors, the toilets, anything, and after one year the owner of th studio gave me permition to take all the classes by free. You can offer yourself to help with the young kids or help in the office. All the studios need some extra help.
Well one, you should watch this video and do warm ups similar to this just to stregthen your muscles and learn how to dance it. (ill be getting videos like this up soon!) Next just keep practicing. After that, find a friend who can dance ballet and have them show you some stuff. There's always college! But hey I'm doing videos to learn ballet. And follow dylade's advice- it looks good!
hope i helped and good luck!
btw Im 13 also and have taken ballet since i was 2.
I'm a former tap dancing teacher, urrently I'm fiinishing college so I can start my own dance psychology practicf, I live in Arcata now. If you dont have the funds to take formal classes, I would suggest you do the same thing your doing now. Get online and look up the instructional ballet videos on youtube and work on your flexibility & technique through the videos, there are a lot of talented people on youtube. If you need anymore advice, let me know. I know a lot about dance. Take care.
Did you learn pointe when you did ballet before? I am an adult and I am taking beginner ballet. One day i would like to learn pointe.

Hi FOSEBOY, thanks for watching!
Yes, I still dance on pointe, but I´m very begginer, heheheh. You can see my old videos, but I think I´m better now. I need to do a new one.
