  • Bravo!

  • 1 guy is a pig lover XD

  • I am going to try feeding them by hand! Looks like fun!

  • BRILLIANT!

  • @1BustedMyth Thanks and please view my other hummingbird videos here on YouTube.

  • one friend have a feeder and some Hummingbirds came to sip the nectar, is awesome but you must be careful in the elaboration of nectar

    1 not too sweet

2 do not leave for more than 4 days in the recipient

last advide is important because nectar could be fermented and fermentation produces alcohol and hummingbirds get drunk, i see several birds flying under effects

  • @MarcoTUV also if you dont clean the feeders after 3 days they can get a fungus (in the south) diesease and die.

  • @catbirdfeeder is the fungus the same of the bread?

  • @catbirdfeeder I dont know what kind of fungus it is. We are walking petri dishes down here in the south with the moist hot atmosphere. I had a rare hummer and the tagger came to tag it and told me to clean up my act or stop feeding them. We have to clean every three days in Mississippi. After it gets cold it is once a week.

  • Hummingbirds are fantastic little critters.

Also, they are surprisingly very bold.

I remember being at Royal Gorge back in the 1980s, and there were scores of Helena's Hummingbirds, and they flew right up to within inches of our faces.

Having those needle bills so close to our faces sure made us nervous.

  • I think the glasses helped for the same reason that they help when playing poker. It helps to hide reactions in the face that are hard to suppress, such as surprise.

  • I was gonna comment about glasses, but ended up not having to.

  • hmmmmmmmmmmmmmm. cool.

  • Why can't I get hummingbirds? My feeder has been hanging there for 4 months. Plenty of nectar and no birds??

  • I would be guessing but a lot of people don't have any hummers again this summer. Some have normal numbers, some have more and lots have fewer. Don't give up, just keep clean food and add more hummingbird flowers to your yard. I believe that are so many hummingbirds that will be migrating south in Aug-Sep they will see your yard/feeder. Enjoy my photos/videos at my site - just google russ thompson hummingbirds to find my website Enjoyable Hummingbirds

  • @russlouky Thanks, What are their favorite flowers? I will keep the feeder up all summer or until I run out of nectar. The ants seem to be enjoying it at the moment. OH I live in Long Island, New York. Maybe I'm not in their flying path?

  • You may not be in the migration path but hummers do visit states above you and Canada. Here are five great plants for hummingbirds - coral honeysuckle vines, cuphea (cigar plant), black and blue salvia, dicliptera suberecta, and coccinea salvias (lady in red & coral nymph). You can google any of them to see what they look like and where to buy them.

  • @russlouky Thank you very much for your thoughtful response. :)

  • @5277407 Here in Nashville, Tn we had feeders out all summer but they didn't show until late August and now we have a flock (or whatever) in the yard all day. We are wondering how long they will stay?

  • @knobdragon I don't know much about hummingbirds. I only saw a couple last year when I grew trumpet flowers. But this year nothing. I'm taking my feeder down because it's drawing more bugs than anything else.

  • @5277407 Do you use sugar and water or the commercial nectar? They don't like the store bought stuff. :))

  • The hummers are really cute. I had a comical incident a few years ago when I purchased a compact tractor and it was painted a brilliant red I had never seen so many hummers and they were all trying to feed on it! LOL

  • @1foxtrot70 I have heard red attracts hummingbirds. LOL

  • Thanks for this clip

  • wow it sounds like a swam of bees becuz its flpping its wings so fast'!!!!

  • Fascinating...also note how the hummingbird is much more at ease once the eyes are covered with sunglasses. I guess its wary to anything bigger than itself looking directly at it.

    Such a cute little fellow!

  • We did notice he was braver when she had sunglasses on but I don't know if it was a result of the glasses or not. This little hummer would eat while other people held the feeder as long as I was there - he trusted me enough to trust other people that were with me.

  • Interesting video. What is that luring off for the hummingbird? Video answer with my new hummingbird swarming he video.

  • u all r sooo lucky, that u can c them like that. We dont have em here in UK :-(

  • Thats interesting, he seemed less concern with the sun glasses on.

  • I love how they "hum" or "buzz" when they fly.. and the little chirps they make.. The are always on my deck using my feeder and stuff.. they are great

  • Thats so funny, their wings sound like a minature motor running!

  • I've had at least 100 of them at my house. Everytime I stood there and looked at them eat. They looked like a swarm of bees.

  • cool vid!! and she is so cute! :)

  • What a lucky girl. Great video.

  • Great vid!!! We have hummers in our front yard. I'll have to sit with the camera ready.

  • Great videos. I live in Louisville too and we put our feeders out yesterday. We need to plant more flowers to attract more birds.

  • nice video!!

  • Wow, That was an Awesome video.

    I rated it a 5 !!!!

  • Good stuff!!

  • love those hummers, we get lots here in S. Ontario, I have my feeder right outside the kitchen window, they are jewels of my life. you are so clever, patient, and gentle to have them trust you so.

  • lol--that was funny when it looked at her...thanks for sharing =D

  • beautiful

  • You are so so LUCKY to be able to do this! I'm dying of jelousy! :) Keep up the good work! I LOVED watching this!!

  • Nice shots! Love the hummers.... :)
