I was actually a page in DC when the whole Mark Foley scandal broke out, so I had the opportunity to experience the conservative spin. Let us just say, it was not the brightest time to be a democratic page, with everybody trying to point fingers.
In my opinion-- Mark Foley was a twisted man, and it doesn't matter if he was a republican or a democrat, all that matters is that the House took care of the scandal in the best way they possibly could, and I am proud of that fact.

To do that, citizens must show that they won't stand for this kind of crap. Balance must be found. Ignore the media spin, on both sides. Watch only the events themselves if you can, not the commentary; think for yourself. The Republicans have some good points, but they cheapen that by not listening to the Democrats because they currently don't have to. This short sighted policy will hurt their party long term.

This is very similar to what has been going on in Canada the past 15 years. The Conservative Party was defeated so soundly in the early 90s that they actually lost Party status. The Liberals were in control of the government for 11 or 12 years easily because the Conservatives couldn't get their act together (they were two smaller parties for several elections) Eventually the Liberals scandals got too thick, people got tired of their scare tactics, and kicked them out

Yes I happen to know what time of the year it is. I am registered to vote and I do plan on voting. Please re-read the above comment with something more than a room temperature IQ. Mudslinging does not help sway the intelligent voter one way or the other. How these representatives vote on issues and their political opinions matter, that's what you go to the booth for, not because Monica gave head to Bill.

2. He didn't do that by accident. Frankly, I think it's good to see what everyone knows instead of just one party. Just because Foley's a Republican doesn't mean there weren't any Dems involved. And I'm not saying they were involved, but it would be dumb to let half of congress out of the questioning.

If their is one thing the GOP HATES to do it is take responsibility for anything. Look at Hastert's press conference, first he says he takes responsiblity then he starts blaming everyone else. That is not taking responsiblity that is avoiding responsibility!
Regardless of what the GOP says they only have one goal: maintain or increase power. This all ties in nicely with the murder of habeus corpus. It is the power dummy.

Why repeat the same old tired rant? Did the Dems as a whole ever take responsibility for Monica? No. Has there ever been a political party whose goal was not "maintain or increase power"? No. Dems are turning this into a political issue because, frankly, their platform is MIA. My friend, I'd strongly suggest you put down the liberal screed, go outside, experience life a little and then come back to politics with a fresher, more original perspective.

Why would the Dems take responsibility for Monica? Was she that much of a team player? Did she get around that much? When the Dems found out about Monica they all got pissed, they were lied to.
