Or perhaps we put too much emphasis on the deities themselves and not enough on their words and teachings. I'm American and I think all religions are interesting, but do not believe in any. I believe religion was a way to explain the unknown, and now we have science. So, there are a lot less believers. I'm not saying I'm right just giving my opinion.

@LocustaVampa can a hindu accept the gods from shenism and shinto as well ? (if someone don't know,they are the native religions from china and japan, and korea had her religion but today buddhism and christianity are most common there) can a hindu believe in the existence of the shens (shenist gods) like the goddess "mazu" and the kamis (shinto gods-spirits) like "inari" or "amaterasu" ?

@kyonsuzumiyakim I feel that sometimes these deities have many names, given to them by the poeple of different lands. Perhaps Amaterasu is Durga, the same being or energy? Or perhaps we put too much emphasis on the deities themselves and not enough on their words and teachings. All gods and all living beings originate from the same Source, I believe, which is a creative and loving force.

Islam can be used in the same manner as all faiths, used for committing crimes and furthering adgendas of controlling figures, all while placing responsibility on some cosmic godhead. Even Kali has been dishonored in this way, allowing a group of mortal sadists to commit acts of violence on others in her name. It's the people who commit horrors, not ideas.

@Severe777 I believe you have misread my posts. I do not believe in the God of the Koran. Scientifically, we as humans do not have the language to explain that which is not yet proven by science. A "personal" god? Do you mean a god someone creates themselves? That's interesting. I think "God" is All Things, and so a personal god would be just as valid.... as the imagination of mankind is also a part of All That Is.
Beliefs don't destroy people, people destroy people. Beliefs are only tools which can influence action(or inaction).

I don't believe that any god judges our thoughts and emotions... the human race does that(in my opinion) and since we are indeed a part of God, we just got confused and assumed that some higher power was judging us.
