  • THIS INTERVIEWER NEEDS TO STOP TALKING AND LECTURING AND LET LAYLA FUCKING ANSWER GODFUCKINGDAMNITTTT

  • Cont'd. Reverse racism???? You can't be serious. You have got alot to learn. BTW your resentment for Black people is thinly veiled. Just wanted to let you know in case you thought you were fooling everyone. You pretend to balance it out by speaking on Black issues but you can't fool Blacks no matter how hard you try. We can spot prejudice light yrs away. And yours, Geez, I hope you can eventually get over your resentment for Blacks.

  • Tiffany, thanks for sharing all these videos with us. They are very enlightening and from them I have learnt that Mulattos are as diverse as anyone else. I have a few issues to take you up on. You can't claim that Mulattos are more deeply affected by racism than monoracial people. How did you come to that conclusion? You are affected uniquely maybe but not deeper than anyone else..

I like Layla by the way, she is has the most mature and well rounded attitude so far.

  • I don't think black folks are as closed minded as you might have thought. Blacks can be as open minded as any other. However it is the blacks who have suffered so horribly in America.

  • SHES AWESOME :P LOL

  • @travelingnomad1 You have an obvious maladjustment.

  • i don't understand why ppl didnt like this interview.

    Girl is deep!!!

  • 12:57 I highly recommend everybody to read the book Outliers by Malcolm Gladwell.

It breaks down the whole idea of why certain groups excell at specific things. Why are Asians so good in math? Why are many Jews traditionally well represented in law? How come some excell in sports while others dont? Why are poor black kids at the KIPP school in the Bronx among the highest scoring in maths of the whole country?

No, its not determined by one's IQ nor is it a matter of working hard enough.

  • @OneSummerSky I can accept "it" not being determined by one's IQ but not " a matter of working hard enough ?" Even people who are prodigies must put in much time in whatever craft they pursue. Read the book by Daniel Coyle called, "The Talent Code". Very interesting reading, which shows you must continually apply yourself in order to maintain a skill or knowledge. Please read this and I, of course, will check out the Outliers.

  • @woodie62 Thanks for the recommendation. I check it out. What you say about working hard enough, Gladwell does mention the 10.000 hours threshold. That anyone who masters a certain craft has at least put 10.000 hours of practice in it.

In this regard I like Maya Angelou's quote: Some critics will write "Maya Angelou is a natural writer'" - which is right after being a natural heart surgeon.

  • @woodie62 What I mentioned w/not only a matter of working hard enough (as in: the American Dream), is that all brilliant people had been given a chance by someone else or had a unique circumstance that laid the cards in favour for them to florish. E.g. Bill Gates had access to one of the first computers in the world when he was a teenager where his parents/teachers let him practice on it and experiment till late at night. Had he been born anywhere else, his cards could have been very different.

  • 8:18 About reparations: its not only about saying sorry.

If Washington can find billions to bail out AIG, it can also say, "We're going to bail out people of African descent because this is what's happened historically."

That reperation money should go to group solutions: mass scholarship funs, for instance, or major investments in preventive healthcare, inner cities and crumbling schools.

Saying sorry is definitely not enough.

See article: Obama's Big Silence: The Race Question

  • She made a wise choice to switch to the more diverse high school. It probably made a big difference for her self esteem. At the white school she probably didn't get much attention from boys. At the diverse school the black boys were probably trying to kick it with her all the time. Biracial girls are so much better off when they go to the black side.

  • Reverse racism ,wrong term. It's called the HATE that HATE created. A reaction or and a survival mechanism. events like slavery, Lynchings which you can view on you tube, and assassination ect. It's not the same. Hating some ones action is different from hating some one's race.

  • btw leyla are you single...mmm love your eyes somtimes them cold somtimes them sweet....mmmm those mixed women.........

  • and black people can be president of the united states of america ;)

  • we're just coloured people

  • I just have to say Tiff , an dI'm not trying to start a big argument , but really it seems like a lot of people have a problem with the issues that you address. This is called Mulatto Diaries for a reason. Why do people keep making comment about you being obsessed with race??? Why are they watching then??

  • I believe in it. I've experienced racist attitudes from both sides.

  • Ur definition of racism is racist itself.Blacks in USA think they have some DNA immunity to being racist.I have found as a multiracial that blacks are exponentially greater haters of me than are whites.Blacks can be very racist, and subjoy, only u guys believe your own press. Ask the Asians, Latinos, mulattoes, Chinese and Indians about black racism!!! You will hear a litany of anger and complaints. Also a lot of people resent blacks trying to hone in and steal their history. That's racist 2.

  • @sallywantcock Black people can not be racist. Its impossible. Black people can be Prejudice yeah but Racist no. Racism is Prejudiced+Power. And the reason why I say that is because. U have to put racism in act. BEcause without the power to take that prejudiced and actively place it in position to cause people to do or not do then its simply just Prejudiced.

  • @sallywantcock Racism is the belief that race is a primary determinant of human traits and capacities and that racial differences produce an inherent superiority of a particular race. If yo ass cant put that shit in Act or have no political authority over anybody that dont mean Definition dont mean shit. Prejudice is a baseless and usually negative attitude toward members of a group. Common features of prejudice include negative feelings.

  • @sallywantcockAt the end of the 19th century the Definition of Racism changed for a reason, WHite people are not stupid. Black people can read know so they changed everything. Prejudice and racism just know recently have had somewhat of the same definition. ONly white people can be Racist. Because they have all the power. THey control what people think in the United States. If white people have prejudice views they going to turn that shit into Racism either by the Media or T.V..

  • @ILUVJEZUZ94 A Good Example is for instance BET. Black girls shakin their fat ass up and down in Music videos. Black people being loud and yelling. Black dudes shaggin their jeans so low to see their ass. Baggy ass T SHirt. Slappin Bitches up and Pimpin Hoes. That shit is Racism. BEcause guess who own BET a WHITE MAN. When black people owned BET all that shit wasnt own their. So stereotypical the black female is ghetto. THe black male likes to slap bitches up. That is Power+Prejudice.

  • lol how would shre know they had the biggest lol

  • Why is Tiff, great as she is,always having to PROVE that she is is not anti-Black&not a tragic mulatta.Stop explaining urself. There are people who have been multi-racial for generations.Things are not confusing to us,only to those who have no existential understanding or collective historical memory of being "mulatto." Also, most multi-racial people are not halfandhalf, so the latter's experiences r vastly different from those of us who have one or both parents and relatives who are mulatto.

  • This really is all code up for "I'm half white. It should mean something." As you said mixed people who understand history aren't confused. The term "mono-racial" really doesn't exist among black americans. I think once biracials start to realize that there are black people who look whiter than them they will began to see that we are all in the same boat. You still have to have an education, talent, and skills to succeed. You can't just show up half-white and expect the carpet to be rolled out

  • she does look mexican, but tiffany you need to shutup, you sound like a crying baby lol

  • I can listen to her talk all day. I really like her views and the way she gets them across.

  • I love this I think its true if This country could be honest about what it did and make amends and I think this country could heal and truly live up to its potential!

  • I enjoyed this interview!!!

  • Have you heard about 'Sorry day' in Australia when the Government formally apologised to the aboriginal people for eslaving them etc.Don't think that'll ever happen in America.

  • Layla is refreshing!

  • Good interview! Thanks for sharing.

  • There were entirely too many generalizations in this part of the interview. In my experience, people use racial generalizations as fill ins when their own knowledge or experiences are lacking. That's not to say that Layla is ignorant, I just think she was off base with her sweeping statements.

  • This was a very good interview. Thank you for posting this.

  • I love this portion of the interview. Layla hits the nail on the head regarding slavery and it's long-term impact.

  • Similarly, at least as of a few years ago, the IQ score gap between Irish Catholics and Irish Protestants in Northern Ireland was about the same as it is between Black Americans and White Americans. As for height, I believe the tallest people in the world, on average, are in the Netherlands. It might help Layla to read "The Race Myth" by Joseph Graves.

  • "The Race Myth" is a really good resource for anyone wanting to explore the topic of race. I read it couple of years ago.

  • Layla went way off the deep end. Oppressed or marginalized groups tend to excel in the limited venues open to them. The Irish, Jews, and Italians, used to dominate sports and stereotypes were once applied to them. I believe the Burakumin in Japan, a group physically indistinguishable from other Japanese, also excel in sports and entertainment.

  • I think grandma was a choice of you hung with if it was a white /black grandma is a no no i'm sorry but both of you girls came when it was legal to marry whom ever you like. and fat comes from white fat girls hook up with black guys.

  • american mixed or multi racial ppl have a complex that is hard to grasp compared to mixed ppl & multi racial ppl living in d caribbean

  • In the end as people we should just look at one another and just respect the differences of each group. One last thing as far as statistic go as far as white people score higher or the SAT than black people that has nothing to with intelligence more to do with the condition of the different education systems. As far as study showing white features are consider more attractive, if that were truely the case you would have people get lip injections, buttock implants, perming their hair or tanning.

  • I thought this interview was very well articulated from someone who can see all sides of the coin. When she talks towards the end about the different stereotypes of black people, I believe she is looking at from the view of a white person. Most white people, not saying all are somewhat afraid of black people. They are more so afraid to say it because they do not want to appear racist. Just as black people have idea's about white people that are not completely founded.

  • not all black man have it big . that was stupid to say.

  • . i think u miss the point. She was stating the trends. not all black men are athletically elite either....Factually, black males have the largest penises in the world ON AVERAGE.

  • @gayputa Yes that was a racist thing to say!

  • she is a great speaker

i love the ways she thinks

it seems like she comes from

a straight up type of point of view

    shes very honest

  • My cousin's grandfather was an old Jewish white guy and we kids thought it was cool that her grandfather was white. We never teased her. As the years go by we'll all have all kinds of races popping up in our family tree. Get ready!

  • For what ?

  • lol. I didnt think it would end liike that.

  • ooook...she kind of went too far with all the steroetypes and generalizations about athletecism and the size of genitals...........Thats like a white person saying that white perople are "the most powerful and intelligent"..........That would be considered racist.

  • I don't think she do go to far with it. Think about (we) black people were breed just like animals for desirable traits like to be stronger so they could hold up in the field and etc. it is what it is and it is true statistically black men carry more fat in the penis region than any other race. We can't keep denying the truth just because we don't like how it sounds.

  • Ok, what if I said that white people are bred to be smarter and more attractive?

    Are you offended?....

Statistics show that whites score higher on IQ tests and SATS than blacks and hispanics (not Asians though)

Studies show the caucasian features are considered more attractive than those of other races.

This whole" one race is more inclined than the other" thing is outdated. Your just as bad as the the white supremacist that kept us in subjugation when you say things like that....

  • Studies this studies that. Of course an educated white person scores better than an uneducated black person. Other studies show that it has nothing to do directly with genetics but with education. And white people happen to be more educated. Obama seems very intelligent, yet he's mixed. But he's educated.

Studies show the caucasian features are considered more attractive than those of other races. That's were i stopped reading. High cheekbones and full lips aren't white. Only the nose.

  • there is also something called educated fools, being educated doesnt make you smart, or intelligence, it complements it, being educated is being knowledeable, not intelligent

  • I dont have a problem with what you or the girl in this video said as long as you're going to aknowledge that other races are more inclined in certain areas as well......lol, and I dont think you're about to do that

  • I thought I was the only person with these problems.

Im multi racial as well and in elmentary through high school I was embarrassed to have my mom pick me up (or even be seen with me in front of my friends)because I didnt want people to think that I was getting picked up by a white lady...

I had a hard time fitting in with blacks and whites as well and got teased about how I sounded "proper" and "white"...

This video brought back so many memories of my childhood....

  • Perfect place to end!

  • the whole thing with being half black and half white is very frustrating for someone who is in that situation its hard for sum1e who is multiracial but its just as hard for sum 1 whos only 1 race my mom is black but bcuz theirs SO much native american n my family everyone who sees thnks shes mixed rite off the back whn i go bak home to the Est coast my family thts native tell me how much i luk like this person nd tht person wich whom r full native being BLACK IS HARD FOR NE BLK PERSON...PERIOD.
