  • NOOOOOO!!!!! I wanted to see the end of the operation! It left me hanging like in those mystery books. do you know were can i find the last part of the operation? It fasinates me how they can tell apart from tumer and brain. I would like to see the end of the operation.

  • why is it that the idea of GOD cannot coexist with science, medicine, and other fields. I am not talking about religion, I am talking about GOD. why is there so much hate toward GOD when you cannot explain and never will explain where we came from and what are doing here?

  • @genharmdog "you cannot explain and never will explain where we came from and what are doing here?" Right back at you (and to any other religious person). You have to understand that when you are the one citing the existence of god, you are the one that must prove it. Extraordinary claims require extraordinary evidence my friend, a burden which belongs to the believer, not the person who dismisses it.

  • @trudyandgeorge i understand what you are saying but the evidence is spiritual and that is something people like you won't get and won't consider, i'm not trying to criticize atheists or anything like that, i just don't know why the belief of GOD cannot coexist in the same way different scientists views are presented and not attacked at a personal level. I am not making any claims or anything, I am just saying with all the hate toward GOD, there is no evidence to state there isn't

  • @genharmdog "The evidence is spiritual" I think we need to define the word 'evidence'. We would realise our definitions are different. To me, "spiritual evidence" is an oxymoron.

"with all the hate toward GOD, there is no evidence to state there isn't" There doesn't need to be. That's what you need to understand. Perhaps some would require evidence against, but the hating atheists you are referring to don't.

  • @trudyandgeorge i dont even know what we are talking about exactly :) i made a stupid mistake of commenting, i just saw the top comment as really ignorant but everyone has their own way of thinking so nvm

  • @trudyandgeorge if you require evidence about existing of God. then there is no point of us to be here if God himself come and show you HIS-self. A deep knowledge of Science will also make one beliver. Prove of God everywhere. Just start from yourself and look around you. Didnt he created this world and univsie ever expendign and creatures within it which we still dont know many. didnt he create u frm sperm?

  • These Neurosurgeons are as close to a "God" as there will be on this Earth. God doesn't save lives, Physicians do...

  • @bodybuildMD ------ You are right about that. Cus how many times have you seen God come down to earth and heal a dying kid? none. God is just a belief that when you pray to it makes you feel better.

  • I saw a dissected human brain and inside its skull today at uni. I noticed a shocking resemblance to a computer circuit, with nerves hanging out of the mans empty skull, and the two nerves crossing each other to connect to opposite hemispheres of the brain really dazzled me!

  • @bacontrevor Be respectful.

  • Excellent work.

  • I wonder with the discovery of the G-0 phase of cell reproduction allowing brain cells to regrow if that has effected brain surgery in a major way.

  • Holypiss...

  • Hurt a bit? Yikes, I'll bet it hurt for months! That was a year ago. I wonder how he fared. Has anyone seen him since? I'm terrified of chemo and the radiation part on the brain scares me as well. Poor guy! I hope he's still living!

  • @XPR12 they removed a tumor -.-" of course he's living.

  • Ow! No pain? Be honest. How much pain did he have afterward and for how long? Was it just a headache? Did he need radiation afterward or was he able to avoid that? How is he today?

  • @XPR12 He needed radiation or chemo afterward - as was planned. Besides the cut in the skull, he won't feel any pain in his brain. There are no pain sensitive cells in your brain at all.

His skull probably hurt a bit though.

  • hmmm...i'm surprised i'm not grossed out; must be the wine. watched the three parts making up this video. i would like to see how this patient functions after the operation.

  • That man has some seriously steady hands. I couldn't be that steady if I had support, his hands are in the air

  • @trudyandgeorge How old is that man?

  • We can't be grateful enough to surgeons like that. He might lose a little memory but at least his loved ones get to enjoy his company for a while longer.

I like the idea of recording the process, with commentary but to have people interrupt the surgeon with questions, on an operation like that, is not cool. At all.

  • "I'm feeling a little tired, a little groggy and most of my childhood memories are mysteriously missing...but other than that I feel fine!"

naw...this is really amazing to watch

  • You can just cut a chunk of brain out and he can still be alive???

  • @HuskySapphire are you fucking high or something retard

  • @ALGfunk This translates to "Anthropology that are not known. God is great" ...*shakes head* we'll never get anywhere with that attitude. God is great! A great big, unreal, distraction.

  • @trudyandgeorge the correct translation is "(God) Taught man, that which he knew not, God is great." It is from the 96th chapter of the Quran.

  • @trudyandgeorge

Surah 96. The Clot, Read, Proclaim

Proclaim! (or read!) in the name of thy Lord and Cherisher, Who created-Created man, out of a (mere) clot of congealed blood:Proclaim! And thy Lord is Most Bountiful,-He Who taught (the use of) the pen,-Taught man that which he knew not.

  • @trudyandgeorge of course God is real. you can't say he isnt therefore he exists! like im sitting on a solid gold chair and my pillow is stuffed with 50 pound notes you cant disprove it so its true :P just like santa claus! lol this is simply amazing i love how science has progressed i dont even have the words to explain how amazing this is. on a side note, I do believe in God and I believe he helped neurologists make the breakthrough on the studies to make this... Continued

  • @KidFromUpTheStreet ... possible however its the utter dedication and "professionalism and the cool, calm, and clear-headedness of the surgeon" which makes the surgery a success. I believe God simply helps you move onto the path and then watches as you progress. In my view this is 20% God 80% surgeon.

  • @KidFromUpTheStreet Does God's percentage vary depending on the faith of the surgeon? The overwhelming majority of neurosurgeons and students of anatomy are atheist. And your second post works both ways. There is no evidence to prove that god does not exists nor is there any to prove that he does.

  • @nullpat what i meant by the 20% God was that in my opinion he helped the scientists and surgeons make the breakthroughs to make this surgery possible.

  • @KidFromUpTheStreet Sorry i said Neurologists not sure if this is the right word but i know that the man operating is called a neurosurgeon

  • @TheDavidshinnebarger This is difficult to answer succinctly. It's true that our very complex bodies are mind boggling, however to jump to the conclusion that someone of higher intelligence must have designed it is exactly that, jumping to a conclusion. In fact, we now know how we became so complex, evolution is a biological fact. Now one may think that God kicked the whole process off; but again, I feel that's jumping to a conclusion. If it's truth you're after you're better-off being sceptical

  • @TheDavidshinnebarger One can not prove nor disprove the existence of a higher power. Choose whether you believe in God or not and leave it be; you have a 50/50 chance of being right or wrong. Also remember that one can believe in a higher power while accepting the facts discovered through Science as true. (i.e. deism) Just don't think too hard about the concepts of higher powers and initial creation because those thoughts are out of the scope of human comprehension.

  • @ALGfunk Go fucking blow yourself up retard....

  • @BrewedLord

he we go, another redneck king size burger acting clever!

  • @ALGfunk I'm not acting clever. I'm just fed up with these fags....

  • @BrewedLord

cuz ur braincells are so immature that they feed on crap

  • @ALGfunk I didn't see god or any miracle in that room, it was all human effort.

  • @Staldren unfortunately human effort wasn't behind creating that brain, those organs, that almost perfect anatomical structure, that consciousness etc.

  • @bungie1209 Perfect anatomical structure? No. Through evolution we have obtained certain genetic advantages over other humanoids like Neanderthals, but we are not superior in every single way, nor are we close. Along with our advantages like increased critical thinking, came reduced memory capacity and slower physical responsiveness for a start.

  • I can't believe they asked him about the brains ability to regenerate while he's performing major brain surgery, just google it

  • I dont think this interview while the operation is goin on is a good idea tho... Well, this is a very interesting video.

  • @HuskySapphire There would be no smell.

  • I really enjoyed this video!! Very educational indeed! Thank you for sharing!

  • Can anyone tell me how long this surgery lasted? Thanks

  • the guy is hardcore

  • "...yea, no problem..."

  • hey you missed the part were they put his heaD BACK ON

  • 2:45 i would of thought it was a present for me if i had the surgey id ask and if they said no i would of said you dick

  • how does he not feel anything

  • @crstian2009

He doesn't feel anything inside of the brain, because that part doesn't have pain/touch receptor cells.

  • @crstian2009 It is because there are no sensory cells in the brain.

  • Very informative, thank you for posting it!

  • amazing!!!

  • ESPECTACULARES VIDEOSS MUY EDUCATIVO GRACIASS!! DESDE CORDOBA ARGENTINA.

  • Is there any further information about how this operation affected Peter afterwards? I wonder what effects it had on his recovery and if he's alive and well today.

  • @pierreaupeix that's a really good question. Now I'm curious!

  • This is really fantastic to see a complex surgery done while the patient is awake...I think its rare...kudos to the surgeons. it takes way the fear of uncertainty in the mind of the patient if he had administered general anesthesia. Better to know whats going on during the course of the surgery. I think the amount of pressure implied on the brain functioning would be minimal as the patient is awake. Great Job done....

  • @subramanyaswamy That's not why they do it.........and it's not rare.

  • your amazing my friend

  • adamın aklını aldılar lan.

  • How can these doctors do this under all the pressure? They have a humans life in their hands. Oh, by the way, very interesting and educational!

  • @GayfishFTW I know, right? And the whole time answering questions and having cameras in the room, reminding them they're on show.

It goes to show the level of professionalism and the cool, calm, and clear-headedness of the surgeon.

  • @trudyandgeorge Which is why as surgeon is not on my list of jobs I want. lol

  • @GayfishFTW There is no pressure, it's like driving a car, they just do it, they know how to do it.

  • @GayfishFTW well i only know that you have to study for round about 12 years. you have to get marks that are almost straight A to start to study so its quite hard to just even get there. also some doctors are working 24-36 hours straight through. and they work 60-70 hours per week so yeah its really hard.

  • @GayfishFTW Thats why they Pay Allot of money for that typer of schooling go trough it for a long time and end the end get payed off with the ability to save someones life and a healthy paycheck.

  • @GayfishFTW this is nothing, some doctors have to act quick, like if the person is about to go to cardiac arrest, they must act fast and know exactly what to do, if they hesitate for a second they will lose the patient.

  • @ayala314 That is acting quickly, this is acting with precision. Both are complex, but operations of this difficulty are not performed by normal doctors.

  • @nullpat i am talking about how doctors remain calm during situations like these.

  • Most intriguing I must say, thanks a heap for posting this up!

  • @shlunko Thanks for the nice comment :)
