He inappropriately touched a 14 year old boy 25 years ago, confessed to the parents right afterward, and went to jail for it. But he moved to S. Carolina where previous offenders aren't allowed to own a computer, they arrested him, even though they found nothing incriminating. He got 5 years for making videos. Murders get less.

I'm glad to see so many people who don't let Ed's looks affect their view of him. I can't seem to get anyone I know to look at this guy for who he really is. A wonderful old man who brings smiles to thousands of people a day, many who need it very much. I think it's a shame that we live in a country where looks are second only to money and wisdom and talent count for nothing. I don't know if loving Ed's videos means I'm naive or empathetic. Hopefully I'm both.

It was actually only a 5 year sentence, not a life penalty.

Now, his Florida State inmate file gives a date of birth of September 22, 1932, so being stuck in jail until January 2015 may end up being the equivalent of a life sentence, it is not necessarily so, especially if he makes use of whatever opportunities are provided to reduce the sentence through good behavior as an inmate.
