These comments make me sick to my stomach. Who is anyone to judge him or his family? Underage drinking is not the issue here. The issue is the fact that a police officer used a taser of an intoxicated person. I'm not a rocket scientist or anything but i'm pretty sure you shouldn't shoot volts of electricity through an intoxicated person. The situation should've been handled differently.
Little bastard deserved what he got if obeyed the cops he would not have been tased these fucking hillbillies need their house check out CPS asap they proved a minor with alcohol.
"stay out of trouble dont give cops a reason to tazer you and you wont be tazed????" are you serious...this kid is DEAD..get real yo...if some one tasered your son to death you would lose it....and it sounds like those cops need to find new jobs, or get in the weight room...the fact that they could subdue a 15 year old boy is pathetic..i know a security guard that works at modelle's who would've done a better job in handling the situation.
hhhhmmmmmmm lets see here the cops follow department policy.......and there is a 15yr old with a .17 Blood Alcohol Concentration.....I got a crazy idea.....since everyone is whining about who is at fault.....HOW ABOUT FINDING OUT WHO PROVIDED THE ALCOHOL TO THIS 15YR OLD AND PROSECUTE THAT PERSON???.....guess that would make too much sense....perhaps Child Protective Services needs to investigate this house.
If you're going to call me uneducated, at least spell your words properly. Moving on now, how about you work the most scrutinized job in America. Where no matter WHAT you do, someone will always say you were wrong. They DO save lives, that is, unless you don't count police officers as people. Either way, I'm sorry your parents didn't teach you to look at things from another person's perspective. If they did, sorry.... you're still ignorant.
Police are not paid to fight people If the police got there and this kid was out of control, what should they have done? The family says they should not have used a taser. Ok, so now the cops fight the kid. Then when the cops crack him a few times, the family shouts police brutality and want to sue. If the cops got hurt fighting their son, how would they feel if the cops sued them? I don't think they'd like that very much. Almost always, cops are in a no-win situation.
@cardigan3000 It's easy for you to judge someone without ever knowing what they've experienced. Let me repeat myself again. Cops don't get paid to fight people; drunk 15 year olds included.
@timmiet47321 Cops dont get paid to fight maybe - but there is nothing more that a lot of cops enjoy than a fight - especially when they are mob handed and holding a variety of weapons - i applaud the guy who says hes going after them - i only hope he gets some satisfaction
oh dear, spare me. So the police just walked along and decided to tazer this guy for nothing. Let's here the full story shall we, not just another glorified beat up by the media. Of course his family and friends are going to say he was an angel, innocent as a new-born lamb etc etc... stay out of trouble, don't give cops reason to tazer you and you won't get tazered - it's that simple folks.
My hart go,s out to young Brett Elder,s family and friends. But just like hear.. in Australia. The police will do everything they can to makes shore that it,s all covered up.
Now if it was a 15 year old girl they may have been able to handle it!! Maybe!! But they use these things on little girls to. How many more deaths will it take before these fascist pigs acknowledge these things are lethal weapons.
wtf is bay city police? i never heard of this police department, how do they hire? do these fucking cops even go through a damn academy? I doubt it because they can't even take down a 15 year old kid.
Yes lets ignore the fact that this 15 year old was VERY drunk, starting fights with other people, fighitng with police & resisting arrest.
It is the police's fault he was drinking & drunk at age 15. It is the police's fault he had no parental supervision. It is the police's fault he was getting into fights. It is the cop's fault he tried to fight with them....
"Is that what you are saying" Nope. I am saying by his behavior he placed himself in a position where the police were justified and correct to use the taser.
That was 100% his choice.
"It's exactly like someone shooting someone else" Ignoring the fact that it isn't even if it were. He was attacking the police. Starting fights. Deadly force is justified when a perp attacks the police. They were trying not to kill him.
Have you ever read a continuum of force? Deadly force is justified whenever a perp attacks an officer and that officer feels his or her safety is threatened.
And despite this they chose to use a less lethal option, a taser. It is unfortunate that due to the alcohol and drugs in this kid's system, the taser was fatal for him.
That is not the cops fault. It is the kid's fault for getting drunk and high, and then picking fights and attacking officers.
So you are welcome to your stupid, delusional statements. The fact is the officers acted correctly. Maybe if the parents of this kid had taken a little interest in his life, he wouldn't have been DRUNK and HIGH and picking fights with officers.
And you can keep trying to play your stupid little strawman games. They are transparent.
So what you're saying is that just because something is allowed means it is right? That's your only point against the many points of Melpheos. Okay, so the kid was drunk. That's a seperate issue. But a drunk, skinny, unarmed, 15 year old punk does not require a taser. I would hope that the people that are supposed to protect us would be skilled enough to handle the situation without a weapon. Unnecessary death is unjustifiable Don't completely write off someone just because you don't agree...
@Melpheos1er Now if it was a 15 year old girl they may have been able to handle it!! Maybe!! But they use these things on little girls to. How many more deaths will it take before these fascist pigs acknowledge these things are lethal weapons.
ccr5cxcr4, You are exactly right. People thinking that these little shitheads can act any way they want to with out repercussions is the reason these problems exist. If this little idiots parents had taught him how to conduct himself, they wouldn't need a lawyer to "go after these guys". White trash, it cost a young man his life.
ey i remember you, ur that small dicked republican white guy, remember me? that evil commie who helps poor people?, your a stupid waste of sperm, officers couldnt handle a lil skinny kid, who was just havin a lil fun, the laws need changing my boy. ppl get tasered for anything, they cause serious heart problems in years to come n can sometimes kill, only use EQUAL FORCE, i should rape ur ass
@GRANDMASTERKANE I would shoot little shits like this for fucking up at my house. The best thing that could happen to you is the police showing up to keep me from killing your dumb ass. As for the "small dick" comment, ask your mom, she choked on it.
@ccr5cxcr4 SOO your saying that its perfectly okay for a young kid to get murderd by people who are SUPPOSED to be protecting us ... you have problems
He was not murdered. He died as a result of the police doing their job. Big difference. He should not have been drunk, should not have been fighting anyone, should not have fought the police. His own actions brought the situation on. You have problems.
@hodaka1000 It is too bad that young people die. He was the initial cause of his own death. Blaming the cops, suing the city, calling other people names.....none of these things will bring him back or keep it from happening again. Teaching your kids how to conduct themselves, taking responsibility for their actions.... can and will prevent these things.
It appears his family and friends did him no favors by sending him down the wrong road -- and keeping him on it -- long ago.
"Why would parents allow a 15-year-old to spend the night drinking at a 40-year-old woman's apartment without them, friend of the family or not? The woman is the person who should be prosecuted for serving alcohol to a minor, not the police for doing their job."
350+ Americans have died. "Non-lethal" weapon? Taser Intl has given only propaganda as supposed "medical research" - electrical shocks affect children, old people, and women much more strongly because of the way shocks travel. Taser has done only research considering only healthy adults, one shock, at 7' away, on the lowest setting of their least powerful gun. Each additional shock gives exponentially more pain and damage because your cells align to transmit the electricity. Write congress.
has anybody thoguht of the cop that tased him..i m sure he feels like shit about it......im sure when he went to work that day the last thing he thoght he would do is tase a kid that would later die
I live only three hours away from you and this wasn't even in our news. The west coast media in Michigan pretty much thinks the state ends in East GR. What are the specifics of the case? What happened? Are there links? I'm always concerned when it involves young teens and kids.
i talked to bretts dad this morning and some of the best lawyers are on this. Brett WILL get justice one way or another! Everyone is going to make sure of it. That fuck will be charged with murder.

So he voluntarily jumped into two taser hooks and pushed himself on the trigger ? Is that what you are saying ?
It's exactly like someone shooting someone else. The responsible is not the manufacturer of the weapon nor the person shot, it's the shooter.

I'm sorry but what you said is pure stupidity.
Deadly force is justified when a 15 year old drunk tries to attack bare hand a 3 policeman crew ?
Policeman are so weak they cant handle a drunk kid without using deadly force ?
How stupid that sounds ?

Please read the following, this is in most taser prior use policy in the world
1) officer/subject size disparity
2) officer/subject strength disparity
3) officer/subject skill disparity
4) officer/subject age disparity
5) officers perception of the subjects willingness to resist
6) officers perception of the immediate threat to the subject, officers and others
7) suspects criminal/violent history if known by the officer
8) officers location is a hostile environment
9) too long to post
Melpheos1er 2 years ago
What remains is the officers acted correctly, and this boy brought the situation on himself.
The cops tried not to kill him (if they had wanted to kill him they would have used a gun), but they have the right to defend themselves.
The fault of this boy's death lay at his own feet & his parents.
