Oh, can you help? I have a couple of Superworms but only 1 has Pupatied. Will they hatch if I have them all in the same container? Ive been experimenting and the fastest Pupation ive gotten was one alone in a small container that was tinted so he couldent see much.
@DylanBurke11 i keep all me mealworms, pupae and beetles together, but you need to have enough space for them. Sometimes when they are hungry the beetles will eat the pupae so keep them fed! Best luck!
I have a pet lizard, I feed it superworms... the superworms bury themselves sometimes.... and all of a sudden i see those funky ass lookin things and i was like WTF?! then after a while I saw beetles... I got sketched out... I know throw them outside.... and kill the little things like thesse.....
@forgottentilldeath these are just pupae of the superworms... they will change into beetles so dont kill them. The beetles will mate if you keep them correctly and make more superworms for you!
@bucketstons It will take the mealworm larva (After curling up into a "C" shape) about 2 months. Then the larva will pupate, and after perhaps 10-18 days into pupation, the larva will transform into a beetle (Like in the video above /\ ).
@bobster869snakeboy I am raising mealworms as well and I have a ton of pupa but only a few beetles my pupa keep dying should I have them like under a heat lamp or have some humidity or something I dont know why they keep dying so much
@xxHATESxTHExWORLDxx umm that happens to me too, I notice that the beetles sometimes eat them...so thats why i've separated them. I wouldnt add humidity unless they are SUPER DRY cause mold and stuff could develop. Heat, i dont know... just try to separate them from the beetles hope it helps.
i'm trying to breed mealwoms and i bought a pack like 2 or 3 weeks ago and i still havn't found any pupae.is there anything i can do to help them turn into pupae quicker?
I bought mealworms for my pet lizard (chinese water dragon) and I keep them refrigerated in the container but they are still alive. If i don't feed them to my lizard and keep them in the container will they eventually evolve?
I am attempting to raise mealworms for the first time. I have a few pupae. How long does it take to complete the metamorphosis into a beetle? And also, how may eggs can a beetle lay at a time?
@bobster869snakeboy ok..another question......I have a few beetles now, but they are all dark. Do I need male and females? Do they mate, or does she lay the eggs and the male fertilizes them? Sorry about all the ?'s.
Aww I was hoping that it would turn into Beedrill :/

@Yugi196Trades no they wont turn into beetles if you keep them refrigerated, but if you just keep them in a tub in room temp they will.
bobster869snakeboy 6 months ago
@bobster869snakeboy What If I keep them on my wooden floor in my basement? Its pretty cold down there but its not as cold as a fridge.
bigfri5 2 months ago
@bigfri5 if you dont want the mealworms to turn into beetles then ya keep them in somewhere cold.

@ashlanas quite a few weeks, and a beetle can lay TONS of eggs, if you have lots of beetles, youll end up tons thousands of babies!
