I wonder why people dont love U2's 2000s work, I know it's not similar to theirs from the 80's or the 90's but it bloody good, my fav albums are The Joshua Tree and Achtung Baby but I'm crazy about All That You Can't Leave Behind , How To Dismantle An Atomic Bomb and No Line On The Horizon.
Pop gets so much stick, but I really do love that album. I've enjoyed their subsequent work as well, but Pop is just so...searing. I swear, I listened to that album for 7-8 months straight.
Pop is the last great U2 record...but if you ask me ACHTUNG BABY is one of the best records of all time. It's too bad they lost the edge, pardon the pun.
Pop and Popmart for me were the absolute jewel of U2. I can't think of ANY band that lifted themselves so high above everyone else. It outshined U2 itself. It was such a full and rich album. Songs like Gone, Please, and Mofo are the most spirited and moving songs in the whole U2 catalog. Song like Discotheque just blows my mind how high it lifted U2 in artistic terms. Pop is a very smart album. It's production, playing, arrangements, the effects used were decades ahead of everyone including U2.
Every time that they were about to split, the great spirit of music wouldnt let them do it. It seems that the mission they have in music is greater than every obstacle on their way.
I think you're right zoogarten this was their last great album. If I had my way I would've stopped it at achtung baby left it for 5-6 years and then I would've come back with with all their good songs after 2000 in one final album to really set the image in peoples heads that U2 was one of the greatest and most influencial bands in the world. But whats done is done and their still better than any band that has come after them!
the best documentary on u2 ive ever seen ! they hit areas other documentaries didn't.
its incredible what u2 went through together as a band. it seemed like each era they had obstacles that threatened the band but their bonds weer soo strong they pushed each other.
no band has re-created themselves mroe than u2. listen to the transition from war to unforgettable fire and unforgettable fire to joshua tree. then the BIG transition Achtung Baby.
Thank you Orsojka for uploading this I remember watching it a few years ago I think it was in 03 and always wanted to re-see it. Now 2 albums and years later u have uploaded it thanks again lol. Greatest band ever and now their making history again with the first ever live uploaded concert on youtube. Thanks once again U2 fovever
pop is their last good album...not having time to overpolish it was a good thing...everything since sounds like it was produced and mixed by committee/ focus groups
i was 15 at time that gig took place in Belfast and a teacher said to me that there was free tickets through the school for it and U2 were goin to be there and didn't believe her so i didn't bother tryin to get a ticket. even now 11 years later i'm annoyed with myself.
@DirtyDayMix This comment made laugh out loud. XD So true though! I love Pop a ton. I've never understood why they can hate it so much. I think it is perfect just the way it is, regardless of this "we never finished it" garbage they make up.
i would soo love to see a documentry of them after 2000. they get 15 grammys one more nomination for nobel prize rock and roll hall of fame and now they come out with NLOTH which IMO is the best U2 album..
Thanks a lot! I just wish I could see part 4, but that clip is "not available in my country". :o( Any idea why that clip is treated differently from the rest?
Really? I didn't know about this problem with part 4. One reason to hate YouTube is this discrimination. It happened already with me too that I wasn't able to watch some music videos. This is disgusting:(
I just got finished watching the whole documentary, and it was one of the greatest documentary that I've seen of U2 in well forever. This takes you to the start of their career until ATYCLB. I have never seen anything like this. Thx for posting.

Its a pity pop wasn't well received. i think it was ahead of its time. I return to it about once a year and forget how good it is.

The Unforgettable Fire was their last, consistently excellent album.

Atomic Bomb was awesome, it was so rock n roll. Horizon is good too, you just have to move on and let it grow on you. Achtung is still my fave though
