THIS IS A SERIOUS MACHINE!!!!!!!! DEAD SERIOUS!!!!!!!!!!
I've used youtube to help review MANY electronic instruments, and despite the Monomachine being one of the absolute best spacecrafts ever designed. "this guy" did a fantastic job demonstrating this advanced alien technology, developed by the superior lifeforms at Elektron!
So please, give praise and thanks and save this space for legitimate comments, questions or concerns.
6 part mono sounds fatter and fuller than you might think, layering melodies with different sounds can give really amazing results, then you've gotta account for the fact that its a hand-built unit in steel and aluminium, an easy to use, very fast OS, stellar sound quality and amazing support from the manufacturer. Sure its pricey, but you get what you pay for!
@Jete246 The monophonic/polyphonic issue can largely be bypassed with a little bit of the Mono's Userwave function. Check out the video "Monomachine Superpoly" for more info.
So if I understand correctly, the MM can only play 6 synth tracks or "parts" simultaneously and for that they have to be monophonic. You can make a track polyphonic, but it'll automatically take up all 6 notes and disable the other tracks?
Seriously, for the price a MM costs, I find that extremely lacking. If it'd more tracks (atleast 8) and a polyphony of atleast 3 on every track, I'd get one instantly. Shame, because it sounds awesome.
Jete245, you are correct that you are using monophonic synthesis but you can do so much with it. It fits in my kit quite well as a bassline synth. I often find myself using it for this as I don't usually use polyphonic bass. You can also reroute the signal into the Monomachine (MnM) to add Fx. I also use it as a simple sequencer for other sythn's. Think of this as being the best of class synth in its type. Very easy to use. I really think you are missing out.
Well, I'm not debating it'll be a nice addition to my current setup, but for the pricetag, I feel it's missing certian key "features". I still desperately want one, absolutely, but the price-tag is what's holding me off. If it was half the price, I'd get it with joy. Or, if it had everything I mentioned in my earlier post, I'd already own one now. Ultimately, I might still get it, regardless. I don't know, the main thing I want it for is chords/pads. But, I need all six tracks and poly sounds...

I still stand behind my critcism though, but like I said, it's a nice addition to my setup regardless.

I totally agree with the whole monophonic issue, But just Hearing the SID emulation demo gets me lusting after this synth.
