I appreciate the comments, including the comment about the "wrong" way to put a bit on. Part of the point of the video is that, contrary to what the horse training industry would have you believe, there are frequently multiple ways to get the job done. In this instance, with it being the first time Joanna took a bit, the fact that she is a Belgian (which tend to be 'mouthy'), and that I wanted her to voluntarily take it, holding it in a manner which gave her more choice made sense to me.
Your horses are wonderful and I think you did a great job !! Just look put for those rains if she didn't take that bit as well as she did she might have gotten tangled up and really hurt herself .... Sorry it was just really bothing me ... Again great job and wonder looking and acking horses
I knew I recognized you from your sale ads. I live pretty close to you. Small world, ain't it? I'm breaking a new horse in as well and he seemed ready almost right away to be ridden. It's nice to know my instincts are on and that not all horses need weeks to be ready. I would have to think twice about breaking a draft just because of size even though I know their personalities are spectacular. Good luck selling, she seems sweet and beautiful.
Thanks. Jill and Joanna are pure Belgian and Dakota is full Arabian. One of the points of the videos is to try to show their character as they are for sale, but another is to show how common sense, a good "horse" attitude, and just taking it one step at a time can work wonders. Joanna is not the first green horse we've owned who was stellar on their first ride. Thanks for the encouragement.

This is a great video and I'm glad to see someone working with the horse instead of against them.
@horsesrock12345, there's more than one way to get a horse to take the bit, his worked just fine
