  • Since 1990 the Led Zeppelin version has been credited to Anne Bredon/Jimmy Page & Robert Plant, and Bredon received a substantial back-payment in royalties.[3]

  • Wow! Love it. Beautiful guitar, lovely singing. Thanks!

  • nice job, with the little stairway to heaven at the end =D

  • Just for clarification, Jimmy Page did NOT "steal" this song. He credited it as "Trad", which is how the song was credited originally. Anne Bredon did not come forward until the 1980s so there was no way for Jimmy to know that she wrote it.

  • Excellent rendition. Guitar is SWEEEEEEEEEET!

  • Video is freaky

  • Jimmy at least admitted here that it was never completely his song. It reads traditional and Page in the credits on the original album. This is the Zepp version of course.

  • great job man!

  • really nice guitar work, but man I just can't stand to watch this vid the closeups of your face and orange aura is just a little to freaky and kind of scary man I don't know, weird for sure!

  • very kool the old man

  • haha this is hilarious

his face at 2:22 tripping out at the sheer awesomeness

    well played though

  • very bed voice to this song but the rest is wonderful ;)

    (I love that track)

    5!;D

  • wow Diesel!

    this was great!

    :-)

  • What an amazing version !

Guitar and vocals are just great!

I love the deep bass too, glad you got that in.

Joan Baez had a voice, but too formal and trained I felt,Plant did a fantastic job.

This covers the middle ground, and very nicely indeed !

  • Great cover! I actually played along : )

  • Wonderful job. You're right, you definitely do not have a voice like Plant, but really, who does besides Plant himself. But what you were lacking in the vocals you more than made up for in the guitar. The phrasing was EXCELLENT. I also like how it ends on the intro to Stairway, random, but it fit exceptionally well.

  • Really Good one dude =)

  • This guy isn't going anywhere....

    jk, nice cover man

  • One thing though...why does it end like stairway to heaven??

  • How stupid are you?...Why do you have criticize this man that gave this his averything...Besides age doesn't matter, have you seen Jimmy Page lately? he's also old, how 'bout some respect here...GREAT JOB WITH THE SONG DUDE!!!

  • Nice song. Good version. Thank you.

  • Awesome!

  • umm they never took credit for writing "babe" they followed suit on what joan baez did listing it as traditional.. so this isnt one of the songs they took credit for.. and baez is the one that made the mistake not zeppelin

  • dang your good u cand be in a band

  • i think the video editng was a bit much..it took away from the song for me..i thought your singing was a little flat..

but i thought your guitar playing was fucking awesome..your solos were great man..liked it better than the original at points

  • I agree, but i still love Zep, and besides you cant be mad cause they took stuff and it turned it into brilliant works of art.

  • sure you can. especially if you wrote that stuff :D

  • great work! beautiful.

    Paul

  • sounding good

  • Thank-you, Shane! 8-)

  • Great job, my compliments for mention the original songwriter. Jimmy and Robert did forget that, when they make their version of this song!

  • Thanks, quercus1959. Mentioning the composer is the least I could do. I'm glad you appreciate it. 8-)

  • Wonderful job.*****

  • i'm in heaven

  • Sir Scott,

    -Simply WonDamous !

    -Good Groove on this one!!!

    -Lot's of Flavor.

    -Basement Bob

  • Mad applause!

  • I LOVE this song. And a very good rendition it is.

  • Outstanding job on a song that would seem to be difficult to tackle, especially considering you're following Led Zeppelin and many other greats (but especially Zep, probably the most famous, and perhaps most powerful, version). You totally held your own, and don't worry about not matching Robert Plant on the high notes, he can't hit those anymore either! LOL Seriously though, your voice and playing were excellent here, just a really fine job!

  • You are a Shining Talent.

    Superb Scott.

    Great Production !!!

Tasty Guitar work.. love the Tone.

    Enjoyed this 100%

    -B. Bob

  • Thanks, B. Bob! I like hearing that you appreciate this that much! Thanks again!

  • Great stuff, as usual!

    *****

    ~R

  • Thanks, Robert9x13! A little something for those not big on Jazz Standards. Of course, I won't stop doing those, but a little break for a while to keep things interesting. 8-)

  • Oh, yes! Variety is necessary! Too much good music out there to only listen to or play one style.

  • When I watch and listen to a video like this I just have to be content with being amazed ... I wish that I had a combination of skills like this!

Simply first class! 5* all the way ...

    Regards, Michael.

  • Thanks, L'il Mick! This actually seems to be better in Mono. YT has some wacky compression that goes hog wild in Stereo. Glad you like it though. More on the way! 8-)

  • Yes, the compression thing is a problem - especially during a quiet spot - however, if you go to "Independence Day" on my channel the problem is not evident! Duke uploaded that onto my channel from the USA - not from my end. The music was resampled at 48Khz using Pinnacle version 12 ... it's all a bit odd and I have wasted over 300 hours trying to find a solution! YuTube ... gissa job! lol

  • OK, leave - but your guitar will be taken in custody to ensure your return! Great job, again.

  • No, Frank! Don't take my Guitar! I may need it for collateral at a pawn shop in case life on the road gets out of hand! LOL & 8-)

  • Far out man! - Thought I saw a double neck geetar around the first chorus, with an extra pair of hands! - Thought I'd discovered the secret of the Bodine Virtuosity. Then I checked if there was anything funny in this cigarette, but no.

Top stuff. A welcome and unusual diversion from The Bodine.

Barry. (Sitting be-kaftanned on the floor cross - legged.)

  • Hello Sir Barry! I thought I'd dip a little into the Rock side of my brain. Hey, what's in that cigarette anyway? LOL & 8-)

  • bonjour,Scott une fois de plus tu vas gagner le titre du meilleur musicien ,bravo.

  • Merci, Pascal. LOL! Je ne dors jamais . Il est 3:33 le matin! 8-)

  • Thanks Timmy! There's so many great tunes to pick from to do, but I've been diggin' this tune since I was a kid. I've heard the Joan Baez version of this song, too. It was so different than Zeppelin's version that it almost didn't sound like the same song, but she did it before Zeppelin did it.

  • It's hard for me to realize that you don't have a full band and a studio going on here... :) You're one of the best musicians around, Diesel. What I like most is you've got a great vibe and always put your definitive mark on the music. Kudos, my friend...kudos!

  • Thanks, Suze. 8-) I actually have a studio, but I've been making my videos with Computer software instead of my studio equipment. If it wasn't for trying to video record the playing, I'd use my studio. Oddly, I haven't turned my studio equipment on since I started making YouTube videos. Gee, I hope the stuff still works!

  • well you may not sing like Robert plant, but you took this song and made it yours!! excellent

  • Hi elviradark! I don't know if Robert Plant sings like he did 30 years ago anymore. I wish I could've added the screaming parts, but every time I tried to do them, I broke out laughing and had to re-record. So I just re-adjusted the tune where I could sing it normal. Glad you liked it. 8-)

  • @elviradark6 They literally stole the entire song stop giving Led Zeppelin credit where it's not warranted

  • @shiftyshard , they stole it from whom?

  • @elviradark6 it is his own, jimmy didnt write this like he claimed

    but zep is still awesome

  • Better than the "New Yardbirds"!

  • And yes, in case you weren't sure, that is my other account. ;-)

  • Javier, I had a feeling it was you in cognito! 8-)

  • I try, Javier, I try. Thanks. 8-)

  • Diesel Bodine Rules!!!!

    Rocket

  • Thanks, Rocket! 8-)

  • This was a fantastic job! You took some of those mega vitamins again didn't you? Rock on brother! 5 stars

  • Hi Rhonda. I did a marathon work session on this and didn't get it done till the sun was up this morning. Starbucks® helped. 8-)

  • Great rendition and video. :)

  • Thanks, Cathy. 8-)

  • Very pretty!!!!!!!

  • Thanks, Victoria! 8-)

  • Lovely done Scott!!...But..Please dont ever leave me!! lol <3

  • Queen Nina, don't you worry... The Bodine won't ever leave you... but I ain't jokin' woman, I got to ramble. Oh, yeah... 8-)

  • Excellent rendition Scott! One of the first songs I learnt on guitar. Most enjoyable! Cheers mate!

  • Cool, Ed... you've played this one, too... all the way on the other side of the planet! 8-)

  • great job. when is your tour gonna get down here to Atlanta?

  • Hi shabdadune. They're rebuilding the engine in our tour bus, but the mechanics can't find some of the parts, and forgot which ones are missing... so there's no schedule for our Georgia dates yet. LOL & 8-)

  • Next to "Crocs" this is the best video you have ever done. IMHO. Take care.

  • Hello, Classic Mike. I appreciate you're high regard for the video. 8-)

  • Scott, that is truly art.

  • Thanks, Jazzy Matt! Glad you liked it! 8-)

  • Wow... just... wow... 5 stars

  • Thanks, David R. Curtis. 8-)

  • excellent big bodinee, sounds like robert to me, minus a couple marshal amps. just excellent. i like your layered guitars. really good.

  • Thanks, Windham. I wish I could scream like a 20 something year old Plant, but the song is cool even without the screaming.

  • Very good job on this classic.

  • Thank-you so much, Djunisijevic! 8-)

  • beautiful job on one of my favorite classics. you're the consummate musician.

5 stared and favored... peace2U scott

  • Peace out, Brother George, and thanks for dropping by to Bodine's House of Music. This is a favorite Zep tune of mine. Maybe I'll do another in time as well. 8-)

  • i didnt know that was written by someone else, to me this was DieselBodine doing Zepplin, and it freakin rocked!

    5ed & faved1

  • Thanks, Coz-Bro. I always thought of this as a Zeppelin song, too, until I heard it as other people's versions. The Joan Baez version is way different.

  • Really well done!5 stars:)

  • Thanks, Carolyn ''in the pudding.'' 8-)

  • u always manage to produce such a great product! your outstanding talent.

    michael

  • Thanks, Michael, for your positive support and Comments. You're too kind. 8-)

  • Oh man, Scott, This was superb, I use to play this on my Martin 12 string a very long time ago, my first wife use to get mad when I played it...she thought I was tryin' to tell her something! I will have to do my version of this for ya!

Endless stars on this my great friend!!

  • Hey Bro D., looking forward to your version of this. I had to skip the Plant screaming parts. I used to be able to scream when I was a snot-nosed kid, but not anymore. 8-)

  • wow great job Diesel - love the playing and the guitar 5 stars

  • Thanks, Woody! I've been wanting to do this song for a while. 8-)

  • great scott! Scott!you out did yourself on this one, nice guitar work and everything!

  • Thanks Freddy! See, it was the Bean Sprouts that made me do it. I ate that big bagful already, and now I have some more almost ready to harvest.

  • i made to many mung bean sprouts, now we need a weed wacker to get in the house! im almost done eating meat,im becoming a veteranerian

  • Hi Maestro Scott, what a coincidence I also use this great finger-picking piece(Led Zeppelin) as practicing material for students(excellent material). You really sauced it up here with with some nice "Bluesy" licks between the vocals, Good singing too Scott, and you brought in the dynamics where necessary,a very good interpretation of this "Led-Classic",enjoyed very much, thanks for sharing Amigo,Victor.

  • Hello Bro Vic. I loved the first couple Zeppelin albums when I was a kid. Those were cool times for learning to play Guitar. 8-)

  • Hi Scott I know I'll be making enemies by saying this: Much better times in terms of melodic "Bluesy" guitar work played with feeling than all that Shredding that's going on now, where those guys have to play all the notes they know at once without good context,Greets Vic.

  • AWESOME! You just blew my mind. This piece is a classic example of your extraordinary talent and creativity. Simply amazing, my friend. Love the Stairway riff at the end. I was thinking about this song yesterday, while I was working on another with vocals and lyrics; you must be psychic;

  • I was reading your mind, Jeff, and decided I'd better do this song to prove my telepathic abilities. Glad you liked it. LOL & 8-)

  • Most impressive. The Force is strong in you, Bodine ;-)
