This is from an Indian monk..Chinese people would want to cover it up though.. check out bodhi darmas Eighteen Arhat Hands (Shi-ba Lohan Shou) arhat in Sankrit means yogi, saint or worthy one.. see how Kung fu travelled from South India to China..no offense to Chinese.. If China and India were together,I wish..
@Jaygenius Actually BudhaBhadra is the first abbot of the Temple. He was also from India but most underrated one.refer wikipedia. It may have developed further by CHinese people.

My friend how is this connected to the 18 lohan hand postures? I can not seem to find the 18 postures separately but 1000's of variations of "18 lohan hands" as a fist set
Ba Duan jin and Yi Jing jin are derived from 18 arhats or 18 hands of Luohan, you are right the name of these qi gong (chi kung) is 18 Hands of Luohan. The name was wrong because I can´t english.
No, it is the 18 Louhan hands of Choy Lay Fut. I learned a version of it back in the mid 90's form a CLF player. They have a Sui Xue jing (sp?), and Yi Jin Jing that goes with it as well.
This is the 18 Louhan hands from Choy Lay Fut. I learned it as a posture holding set back in the mid 90s from the same guy who taught me Xiao Hong Quan and a bunch of other Songshan Shaolin sets(as well as some other sets I assume are some sort of CLF). They have 4 primary Qigongs. This sequence is one of those 4.
Hey this is NOT just plain old Ba Duan Jin. This is a hard to find Choy Lee Fut set of Lohan. If you look on youtube there are ONLY 2 videos of it up. This one and one directly from Howard Choy himself, who i learnt the exercise from.
Korak62 thanks for posting this but your a little stiff.. still thanks for posting as its hard to find any videos of this!

@shobyms It is from an Indian Monk but the development of Chinese martial arts after that is distinct in its own right.

Just a bit different from the version I practise, done realy good.
My opinion is that the streching should be less and that shoulders and the practiser himself could be a bit more relaxed.
Commpliments!

This isn't the 18 hands of Lohan. This is just some guy doing tai chi in the woods.
nigmar 3 years ago
Actually, this is the Choy Lay Fut 18 Louhan hands. It's not even remotely like Tai Chi.
