  • Where`s the tone? Hate the scooped mid sound (thin tone really) ...mids are crucial to a guitars tone! No throatyness here, just bass and treble. Especially for soloing kiddies, you need them. You`ll learn you need mids when you try and get your guitar sound to project in a live band situation, well without sheer volume blowing away your bandmates and audience that is.

  • maple cap on the Eclipse is terrific w/ EMGs. They can get a bit too muddy otherwise

  • My god EMG sucks, the amp and guitar are killer and yet still the shittiness of the EMG comes through.

  • This is just out of box ready-for-record studio level metal tone.....Amazing ESPs for metal genres..

  • EMG rocks

  • I love how he's playing emg's, I used to think they were the shit but they're really not. I depend on my good ol' dimarzios, they would sound fuckin crazy with the rivera

  • Awesome amp. Huge tone. Fucking great guitar playing. That's it.

  • WANT! WANT! WANT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • can you get that fat metal sound out of it

that trashy sound but with more bass

    DylanRed

  • I sold mine a while back and I am getting back into live shows so I am buying a new one I have never played an amp that was more versatile. I played Mesa triples, and Hughes Kettner triamps, and krank. But this amp is a beast for high gains metal. It is surprisingly forgiving also for you sloppy guitarists. (myself included). I would highly recommend Rivera to anyone. It can get tones from bluesy to nasty.

  • Why do those posers never know how to play Metal ???

STOP PLAYING SOLOS ON SUCH AN AMP !!!!!

  • This is tasteful 'shredding' finally someone reviewing an amp with some good style

  • i want that guitar and amp =(

  • make my left hand crap up just watching this...pretty cool. I guess fast means good too! :)

  • Damn! so many choices Rivera, ENGL SE, VHT/Fryette pitbull ultra lead, Mesa dual rec, Hughes & Kettner MKII, Framus cobra, Soldano SLO, Peavey 6505, currently I have a Marshall JVM which I love but I just can't be satisfied.

  • This guy shreds. And the amp he was modeling is kickass as well.

  • i have the knucklehead II i love it

  • It sounds to sterile!!! I hate EMG's. If you want a good active pickup go with some blackouts!!! or at least some Deactivators. I have played threw a lot of Rivera's and none sounded this sterile...

  • @tinman3804 thats prolly just the camera dude i play emg's through a 6505 combo and it doesnt sound sterile whatsoever

  • Great thick chunky sound.....

  • this guy is a beast

  • @D3m0nhunter719 Good player but his vibrato needs a little work. Anyway, he's really good -- no question.

  • speakers in cab?

  • Wish I was as good as he is.

  • luis maldonaldo? is he brazilian? i'm brazilian :P

  • This is one of the few good high gain tube amps out there. Does it use 6l6 or el34's? I honestly can't remember. But my two favorite amps, other than this one, are the Krankenstein +, and the ENGL 100 watt fireball. Sick tone out of all of them. But the best cab i've ever heard is that Rivera Mick Thompson sig. It would sound bad ass with any of the heads I described.

  • Not sure what the other guy was talking about when he said Luis is a better rhythm guy. His lead playing is awesome!

  • I would have to say Bogner, VHT, ENGL, or the trusty/overrated Peavey 5150.

  • My list is Bogner, Rivera, Mesa, Carvin...all the cali brands (minus fender..fuck fender)

I don't deal in Marshall either, their stuff has always been 'meh' with me

  • He is a much better rythym guitarist.

    Lead not so much.

  • i can see where ur coming from. agreed

  • What are the top 4 tube amps for hard rock/Metal?

  • @PrsFenderJackson1980 its your choise there are so many amps these days :) but i recomend mesa boggie triple rectifier, randall rm100, engl powerball, marshall jcm 800 :)

  • i'm not much for mesa, everything is too compressed, and theres no cut in the sound, u have to turn he amp up so loud for live stuff that it starts to sound like mush before it is audible

  • I would say engl powerball, VHT(now fryette) pitbull, Blackstar series 1, and then, probably a marshall jcm800

  • Marshall

    Mesa Boogie

    Splawn

    Soldano

  • this amp sounds MUCH better in person.

but even through a youtube video, it shows that this is the most badass ever.

    at least I think so.

  • I would hope. It sounds shit over the tube.

  • 'Sounds "buzzy". Great player though...

  • 4:00 = sick shred for the win.

  • it's not bright enough!

  • I need to go to a Rivera dealer and try dat shit out.

  • I don't think it was the emg's that sound so flat. He didn't show all of the gain of the amp...Emgs are kinda flat but that sound was just plain RAW.

  • how did you do that thing at 1:18

i know its a pinch harmonic but at first it was a normal note witch turned into a pinch

    HOOW? =D

  • wasn't pinch harmonic, it was using the feedback of the amp

  • ohkay =P

    thanks

  • Very clean picking.

  • @njudndudi

    lol

    u stupid

  • @keechada I'm sooo sorry. I'm really sorry i don't know everything.

  • @njudndudi actually is was 1:10, and YES! That was so SICK!

  • @njudndudi to do that you only need to hold the note long enough, feedback will do the rest

  • @njudndudi Just feedback mate....

  • i love how the people are talking about the guy playing when all they're trying to do is demonsrate an amplifier lol. geeze. comment on that.

i the only reason i clicked on it is bc i know that adam jones (tool) did some recording with on 10,000 days. hes three main amps which he uses live include; marshall superbass, deizel vh4 blueface, diezel vh4.

  • Adam used the KR7 on the left side of the recording for 10,000days

  • oh man. how'd you know? not to question if he does or not but, how'd you know that? lol.

  • @Riveraprod yeah well thats a gay song

  • @Riveraprod

Wow, that's gonna give a lot of feedback if we tried to make that a famous fact.

The fact that Tool, which is competing with bands, like Slipknot, uses an amp that was designed and used by a member of Slipknot. I'm talking about the KR7, the Mick Thompson Signature Amp.

  • Good thing I stumbled on this video! I tried this amp today, believe it or not, with the new Taylor T3 semi-hollow electric (it's not like the T5, it's Taylor's take on the Gibson ES-335 and similar semi-hollows) Anyway, to the amp. This badass BURNS! So much tone, both clean and gain, and the reverb is the first one I have heard that blows away anything Fender puts out. It made the new T3 sound excellent! Great, versatile amp. Too bad my wallet isn't so versatile at the moment! LOL!

  • this is a guitar standard tuning EADGBE ??

  • sounds like drop D to me.

  • drop c i guess

  • imo emg's sound too flat

    not really living

  • i cant understand how people manage to play solos with only 3 fingers...

  • you can learn solos with 2 fingers if you practice enough, lol...

  • i think it shows a lack of skill.

basically meaning you dont have dexterity in your pinkies.

  • Django Reinhardt could do with two fingers what most people cannot do with four.

  • because they learned the old pentatonic scale and usually they learn it 1-3 1-2 1-2 1-2 1-3 1-3 when they can make the stretch so they never use their pinky... at least that's my assumption

  • i seldom use my pinky, because it's kind of disabled: the joint tends to pop out a bit when moved wrong, so i can't control it right (same with the other pinky and the left thumb)

in addition to that i have pretty big hands and long fingers, which enable me to make wide stretches even with three fingers - so i don't really need to use my pinky

  • I love EMGs but for some amps and rigs might not do them justice like this one they sound amazing clean and dirty with my amp and effects

  • sounds killer and massive

  • I miss my Tre =(

  • Love the guitar i gots one its da coolest

  • yeah dude, i chose my esp over various gibson les pauls.. the neck is so sweet!

  • is it easy to get up to the 24th fret?

  • mine only has 22, actually i think most ESP eclipses do.... nevertheless, bending up to a high E is a piece of cake.. :D

  • Only the LTD EC 1000 has 24 frets, Standard ESP Eclipses only have 22

  • huh...the tone doesnt sound natural....

  • Blame the EMG's for that, no hate towards EMG but they do kind of only have a few sounds to them

  • Yeah lol - The EMG's have 2 settings, which is Metal and more Metal. I personally love them though, they suit my playing style.

  • Definitely, I love them for metal but as a general rule I don't like them for anything else haha

  • Hey Riveraprod, what are your amp settings at for that killer sound???

  • great amp I sold mine. and got a diezel herbert

  • Do you use An equalizer , with the head ?

  • all videos are to show the amp without out any outboard fx or eq. Recorded using 2 mics straight into protools through Mbox flat.

  • @Riveraprod I really love that sound. Got tired of Rectifiers... I liked ENGL amps too, but got tired of that "Melodic Metal European Sound" too.

  • id give my left nut to have this amp its so sic

  • hmm

  • the sound is shit ....technical good but without any feeling!

  • Yeah I think too, the sound doesn't rule! :S

  • yea because sound demos are supposed to be full of emotion.

    you're fucking stupid.

  • wow! you know everything best!thank you! X-D

  • i know. you're welcome.

if you say something else stupid i'll point it out for you again.

  • the thing with active pickups is that the sound gets "digitalized".....and thats shit

  • Thats crap! EMG Pickups doesnt digitalized the Guitarsound.

EMG only work with own power to push you sound.

    Thats it!

Noobs cant play with EMG active because the Pickups transfer all of tone. If you play bad you hear it more as passive pickup.

    Sorry for bad english^^

  • dude....can you tell it in a more simpler way?...i didnt understand a word what u said!

  • He is saying that EMG pickups take your signal and boost it. The battery in them are just to make the signal stronger. I have a set in one of my guitars and it does sound good but in my opinion they are a bit generic sounding now that most bands use them. They aren't better or worse than passives but I personally would rather use my Bill Lawrence XL500, I'm honestly in love with them, and not have to worry about changing a battery.

  • Yeah, I hate to offend EMG lovers but I don't like them either

  • yeah same dude, my esp has seymours, sounds much nicer and more natural, especially with clean tones

  • you mean only with clean tones

  • no especially

    thats what he said

active pickups are good for gain NOT tone

you dont need active pickups to get a great tone

you can get a great metal tone with passive pickups

  • agreed. I use to be an active pickup user, but I have found that low-output passive pickups work better with a high-gain head than actives do. I use Dimarzio PAFs.

  • can also tell its not the EC-100 cause it doesnt have all the gay sparkly binding

  • no it isnt, I have an ec-1000 also that is an ESP eclipse. Look at the beginning the headstock says ESP not LTD

  • agreed. It says ESP on the headstock. The EC-1000 is also a great guitar, though. I have the EC-1000 Vintage Black model.

  • yea I love mine, it's blue
