Well with Fort Lauderdale its easy. 30 seconds to 45 seconds before every call the dispatcher sends out a single tone and advises the zone and nature of the call.

Ex: "Zone 2Alpha for a Structure Fire Residential"

Automatically all the companies at 2, 8, and 46 know they are responding
