What prevented him from taking that LIVE, CRYING baby out of that trash can and walking a few steps over to the Intensive Care Unit and saving it? He's lost my respect.

I had respect for Dr. Paul. He is a Gentleman and presents himself with class & dignity. I lost that respect for Dr. Paul when I learned he, as an intern, watched a baby be cut from his/her mothers' belly, put in a bucket on the floor and put in a corner to die while they all watched. What prevented him from taking that LIVE, CRYING baby out of that trash can and walking a few steps over to the Intensive Care Unit and saving it? He's lost my respect.

In fact, he probably wouldve become a National Hero. He simply lacked the Character to do so AND has never apologized for his inaction.

@thenewmike2012 1. you can get fired from an internship, not sure where you heard you couldnt. they are getting paid (40-50k a yr). there have been cases where interns have been fired for basic personality conflicts ( obv rare). you have a contract with a hospital and must keep your side. if an intern gets a blemished record, it could be hard for him to finish and find work after.

and look...no candidate is perfect. i agree with about 90% of what he says. if you want to let an ugly incident 50 yrs ago overcome his 35 years of service in the military and as a congressman. then go ahead. ill take his consistent voting record, being correct in calling future events and not selling out like everyone else in washington

@whocares9911 IF he SAID he was "sorry" for his inactions, that would be a form of showing he's sorry. Delivering tons of babies is NOT. That just shows thats hes GREAT @ delivering babies. (So was Cliff Huxtable).Dont you want your Presidential candidate to have the balls to say "I was wrong for letting an innocent baby die crying in a trash can when I was an intern"? Even people that arent going to vote for him would HAVE to RESPECT him for doing that.

@thenewmike2012 delivering tons of babies was not what i said. i said that he based that event as a strong reason for his pro-life belief. perhaps he was not as pro-life as others at the time and that event shaped his opinion on the matter. perhaps he is sorry and would be willing to say it. i have only seen him bring up that story once, during his iowa speech. i watch just about every RP interview that gets put on the internet, i have yet to see a follow-up question asking him about that event.

It seems to me that the same failure in Charcter of "intern Paul" is bedeviling now Dr./Presidential candidate Paul..His inablility to say a few simple words... "I'm Sorry, I made a terrible mistake". Cast a heavy shadow on his Character today almost 60 yrs later.

@thenewmike2012 again, he has not been asked a question about that event. also, that story is not something hes going to look to bring up often when on the campaign trail. i have been watching him for years and have read much of what he writes. when he mentioned that story during his Iowa speech, that was the first time i heard it. you should withhold your judgement til hes asked to clarify his position on that event now. hear his answer then respond in whatever way you feel.

@clintcastle This is question of Character, not politics in my opinion. Dr. Paul could easily put this behind him IF he would just apologize for his abhorrent inaction when he was an intern. His politics, right or wrong, are secondary to me. If youre suggesting Dr. Paul represents "everything that America stands for", He would have won his previous two bids at the Presidency.Perhaps its not the message that isnt connecting with America, perhaps it the messenger.

@thenewmike2012 actually its a testament to his character. to be young and in a situation you dont know how to handle because its hospital policy, but then he grew up , learned from it, and tries to right that wrong throughout his doctor career. i know its the people because most people have no idea what freedom is, what true freedom is. however, america is slowly waking up and not listening to their tv's anymore. he is what america stands for. people will realize this if he doesnt win this year

@psycho26shon This has NOTHING to do with Obama although youre not the 1st Dr. Paul supporter to try to drag him into this. Nor is this about ME or my views on abortion. This is about a young mans' Character. This was a CLASSIC test of Character Vs. Authority. No matter how one spins, twists or turns it, the fact is that intern Paul failed that test horribly AND has never apologized for standing by and watching that baby be murdered in a trash can while crying for help.

@psycho26shon So many things are wrong with your last comment. 1) I do NOT hate Dr. Paul, but I DO question his Character. 2) Dr. Paul NEVER said he was "in shock" at what he was seeing as an intern in that room. He said he was shook up & disturbed. (yet stood by and watched). VERY different from a physical state of shock.3) His age/appelation are irrelevant because we ALL are born with our Character/sense of right and wrong. 4) Dr. Paul has NEVER apologized for his abhorrent inaction.

@thenewmike2012 many things are wrong with your previous statement. acute stress reaction is also referred to as shock as what happens to a person in a horrifying experience. which you described text book examples perfectly. i applaud you for doing that. yes we are, but in a work enviroment a supervisor(doctor of age and experience) is in total control. being young and learning your job you listen to your supervisor point blank period. right or wrong. guarantee you have done the same as i have.

IF intern Paul had been in "shock" or was experiencing "acute stress reaction" (words he NEVER used to describe this travesty), why did he walk out of that room with a baby crying for help in trash can, right into another room hospital room and continue his rounds? He CLEARLY felt capable of continuing on with "the program". Have your read or watched his recent speech in Iowa? He clearly says what happened.

@thenewmike2012 again he observed the next room again with the baby coming out and still could do nothing to help the baby. it was up to the nurses and doctors as an intern you are not allowed to interfere as an observer. its a fact in any medical system going up for a degree. also this bad thing helped to shape his views as much as the ill will placed towards blacks helped to shape kennedy's. as much as americans getting fed up with the british and starting the revolutionary war.

That LIVE, CRYING baby did NOT have to die in a trash can, on the floor, in a hospital, with a room full of Dr.s & interns watching & listening to him/her die a horrible death. This is not about Blacks, Kennedy, the British or the Easter Bunny. This is about the FAILURE of a person to act when faced with the test of Character Vs. Authority. He shouldve steped forward, shown some Character and saved that life.

@psycho26shon Youre making up your own facts. Dr. Paul himself said, even as an intern, he KNEW letting that baby die in a trash can crying for help was ILLEGAL. That means he KNEW saving him/her would be LEGAL. (common sense). Intern Paul could NOT have faced ANY Legal or Medical punitive actions had he saved that life. In fact, he probably wouldve been a National Hero the next day in the media. Check out Dr. Pauls' Iowa speech. Its VERY insightful.

@psycho26shon MLK wasnt in the hospital room with intern Paul and is not running for President. (being dead kinda makes that hard to do). It just seems like youre going to keep looking for other people to blame for or compare to intern Pauls' abhorrent in-action, as a way of mitigating it. The very least Dr. Paul can do now, is publically apologize to that baby for letting him/her die that way. That would go a long with restoring his Character with people like me really do not dislike him.
