Sir. I'm 25 and I've been called a Nigger to my face on two occassions and stupid nigger on another. I've also been at a function where people were shouting Stupid Apes at the black team.

This summer I took my mother to see the statue of liberty and got passed by cabs for about 20 minutes for white tourist that kept popping up. It was so bad a passerby in his car stopped and apologized to us.

It was dehumanizing and humiliating. I was in tears White people don't believe racism exist.

Well, if that happened then you should have reported him. He would have been fired on the spot. I don't know what you think about NYC but that shit simply ain't tolerated. And it certainly isn't a common thing. We AGGRESSIVELY go after jackasses like that. Because of that, it is, needless to say, uncommon. Not saying it hasn't happened. But I haven't heard about it happening in a very long time. And I can assure you that a single case would be big news and harshly punished.

I've lived in NYC for 10 years. Its not like your gonna go and chase down every cabbie that whizzes by you to get their medallion number or call Al Sharpton. My mother was amazed and we caught a bus. I also had to learn a trick where you have to jump in the cab before telling them where your going. Because if you mention Bronx or Brooklyn at the window and your black they'll say no and drive off. Once your in that cab they have to take you where you want to go by law.

Of course it still exists. However, it's rare and everywhere in the US, it's considered deviant, inappropriate behavior.

For example, some chucklehead in the burbs thought it would be funny to retaliate in a neighborhood dispute by burning a cross on his neighbors yard. A VERY rare thing but it DID happen.

What else happened? It was all over the news and condemned by everyone.

What else also happened? The cops arrested his ass and threw him in jail.

Racism is NOT tolerated in the US.

If cabs aren't stopping for you, then your issue is not with white people. I can't even remember I hailed a cab in NYC and had a white driver, they're usually Indian, Pakistani, or Sri Lankan.

I can't speak to New York, but I do know that black males do sometimes have trouble getting cabs to stop for them. That said, the problem, more than likely, was not with white cab drivers. (Are there any left in NYC?)

No, but they still equate white people =better. So they will pass over a black person for a white person. It is very deliberate and obvious. They also assume if your black your going to ask them to go to a black neighborhood when you might just want to go up the street.

Interestingly enough, one of the first clues I had that something was seriously wrong with Obama was a comment he made during a democratic debate. He claimed not being able to get a cab in New York City because he's black.

What he doesn't know is just how much that behavior is not tolerated in New York. Giuliani, when he was mayor, started a system that still exists where plain clothes black detectives hail cabs.

In other words, Obama was lying and race baiting.
