The Vibrolux has great tone quality, will hiss even at the lowest setting (I have a 1990) and is a very loud amp, but worthy of stage gigs and will hold its own very nicely. This is the sister to the big brother VibroKing, which I've never heard but I'm told is very loud. I prefer the smaller amps for home, ie: blues jr, princeton, champ, even the deluxe reverb and ac15 have far more than needed at home for me.
When I feel down I can tune into this video and listen to a pure blues soul that always turns my mood upside down and runs chills through my blood. Thank you.
awesome! you're great! and the guitar sounds beautiful! i'm about to purchase my first strat! i'm really excited. an american standard. rosewood baord.
Is that the newer Custom Vibrolux Reverb? These amps aren't reissues, but they're modernized vibrolux's. Let me know if this is the custom vibrolux (they sell new for around a grand) I'm interested in one but am hearing alot of mixed feelings about them. I also hear they have a hiss problem. Is this yours?
You're right, it's a custom vibrolux reverb. I sold it. It was the noisiest amp I've ever owned, plus too big for what I do. I recently bought the princeton reverb ri, and so far so good.
Hi, Custom Vibrolux´s 2x10´jensen are good amps, my friend has one.Yes it was noisy - But we´ve made some little modifications back to the original schematic of 63´Vibrolux - (phase inverter, feedback & channel split.) There are still used PC board of ´63 Vib. inside. Hiss has gone and the sound is not so much agressive now, it plays more mellow at high volumes.Try to find the schematics.
Hello, it's a great sound, sorry to ask a stupide question but how can you get overdrive at a low level of power ? every body speak about the natural overdrive of this amp but I never use this amp more than control volum = 2 or 3 (max)
I'm not so sure this guy does it, but you could buy an Attenuator. The Ultimate Attenuator is supposedly the best one out there. Lets you crank the amp, but play at low volumes.
Excellente my friend. Are you using any pedals such as Fulltone mosfet or anything? What are your axe and amp settings. THank you for the nice demo and tone.
There it is , awesome freakin tone , all you saying this amps hiss is loud and reverb isnt enough, listen and weap,i wouldnt change a thing , plugged straight in amp, working players dream, sure lets get one of those fenders with clean ear piercing tone "remedy"towel to hang over amp, joking great playing .
thanks. not sure how to describe it, but definately not just blues scale (pentonic). i see my playing as more chord based; i'm always seeing chord patterns (triads) when i play.
They don't wear out, they're just magnets. They're just not high quality.
But as that other guy pointed out, the amplifier is a HUGE part of what your guitar sounds like. My friend has a squier that sounds decent through a 30-watt crate amplifier, but with the Frontman 15G (or R), it sounds terrible.
Try to get a Roland Micro cube. They're a wee pricey (for a practice amp) but they have a lot of features (a tuner, phaser, flanger, overdrive and four models of amplifiers) and sound really good. I've heard that the Line 6 Spider III is fairly decent too, practice amp-wise.
I shouldnt say that ALL squiers are junk. I have a 83 squier in my collection with a 3 bolt neck and a 70's style headstock and its 100% stock. It has very high quality components in it...its better than a mexican strat thats for sure. Its made in Japan and fender undercut themselves badly with this one. you can get them from $700 to $1400 although they rarely change hands.
Yeah, I like Japanese-made instruments. I gotta say the current squiers aren't that good. They're all made in China. But eh.. It's up to the guitarist, really.
Phillyred79 uses a squire and it's right on the money... Not just ANY amp will do... use a decent one. There are only a handful (less than 10) amps that I would buy, ever. The Vibrolux is definately #2-#5 on the list.
squiers are alot NO OFFENSE they are cheaper so they will sound much different but every once in a while you can come across one that sounds frickin great because the neck most likely is an actual fender neck only its a squier because it may have a slight blemish in the finish that didnt pass inspection which does not affect the playing at all
Ya gotta love a Strat! Nothin' like it for getting that sound. I also play a Vibrolux Reverb from '66. Wonderful amplifier! Sure makes for great blues or country stuff. I have G&Ls and Strats-o-plenty and a lotta love for them all. They make my studio job easy!
Cricky man thats good sound are you using any effects ore just stright into the amp (My guitar is half clapton strat half 69 custom shop)I do love strats
Don't you just love the synergy of a USA Strat and a big Fender combo? I play a USA standard w/Texas specials through a Fender Showman 112 combo and just drift off hours. Really Sweet playing. You really squeeze a lot of Strat nuance out of youu rig...talent don't hurt none either. Keep it up.
