If anything, kids have a greater chance of getting hurt or killed by kids bringing guns to school. recently, in my local area, a kid had a gun in his backpack that went off. Luckily, no innocent person was killed. What the hell type of discipline is that kid getting from the parents.

(Continued 2) I know some of you might say "Well he's afraid of you". I'll respond with. "no, he's not afraid of me, he's afraid of being spanked". We have a better relationship than most parent/children i have seen. We go camping, rafting, etc, etc. He has a very good childhood, that helps with the respect as well, he is also included in family discussions. He's not passed to the side like an annoying brat.

I've had to spank my son 5 times. hes 12 years old and respects and loves me like no other. Spanking can be a useful tool in raising a child.. However I always try to talk to him first.. Then if he continues, then its time for a spank. I adopted the surprise spank tactic. I tell you once, if you keep doing it, i don't say anything, i just walk by and "SNAG> (Hard)CRACK!" This effectively makes the verbal warning work. However, If my child is bad, send him home to me, I'LL handle the spanking!

When you explain things to the kid when he/she is doing something wrong, he/she is likely to take the same approach. When you hit or yell at the kid, the kid is likely to take the same approach. We don't want the kid taking the same approach in this case. So only do behavior you'd want your kid imitating. Stop hitting. =)

1) If I did this to a co-worker, it would have been considered sexual battery. But if I do this to a poor defenseless child, it would have been considered discipline. Sexual battery is only sexual battery if you're under 18? That bothers me.

I consider myself liberal but conservatives are right on this matter. Kids are out of control, a little smack on the butt puts them in line. For too long parents have tried the non-discipline way and it doesn't work!

Well Parenting is not the same as teaching. Not all states HAVE to have parents permission. Cut off the Tv especially Fox and parent and correct your children.

The school is a place for learning not beatings. these educators do not know these children and if they act out.......send them home or find a new job....obviously you are creating more harm than good by paddling. Different way of parenting? TEACHERS ARE NOT THE CHILD'S PARENT...
