Of course our letters(Lanna,Loas,Burmese)mig­ht be similar,that should be we have connect to each other in the past.

Lanna not belong to Laos,we(Lanna) are like one country.But time passing Lanna was join Siam(Thailand)and apart by the way later with Maekhong River.

I mean the Lanna script is similar to Burmese, not when they talk. Although when Northern Thai people talk it's similar to Lao language, the Lanna script is more close to Burmese script.

Great Song -I never hear Chiang Mai/Chiang Rai culture being promoted in Thailand.

It's all about nice shiny new malls and shopping, why on earth would you go to Bangkok when all the culture is in the rural provinces.

@Ikomamars Lanna means the region in the north of Thailand. In the other hand, Lanna refers to northern Thai people. We have own accent when communicating among Lanna people. We do speak both Thai and Lanna-Thai languages. :)

No, never, Lanna is Lanna, Lanna had never been part of Lan Xang. Lanna had ever been part of Burma but at a short period.

@mariyaxis you know lanna shares the same king as lan xang?? thats why some of lannas word are similar with lao words like the number 20 lanna people prounce it the same thing as lao people does...and also you know lanna, thai, lao they all shared the same grandparents back in the days...

@12563longkhang ........ haha because Lanna is a buffer zone between Lao and Mon Empire (what is now Burma), so of course there will be many similarities ... Look at the script of Lanna if you have a chance, you will see the similarities with Burmese script (the style)

Have you ever seen Lanna language? It's very similar to Burmese language. ---> google can help you with that.

I just want to listen to Lanna songs, but almost every time I search for Lanna songs on Youtube, I'll find something like "Lanna belongs to Laos" or "Lanna used to be part of Laos" I'm so sick of it.

So sick of someone here who wanna stick in the part and claim everything theirs.

well you know what did i ever mention about GOOGLE?!?! no...so you shouldn't be saying things that i didn't say...just because im saying that because it is true...because if your a lanna citizen you should know the pronunciation of the number 20...but guess your not a lanna citizen thats why you don't understand what i mean and if your a thai citizen you would understand some of the lao language because thai and lao have almost the same pronunciation and almost same writing system.

Actually you're wrong. Lanna was part of Lan Xang as a united Kingdom during the reign of Chao Settathirath. He was the heir to the throne of both Kingdom. His capital was Chiang(Xieng) Mai. But it was to close to the Burmanese so he moved it to Luang Prabang then move it to Viengchan. Plus Lan Xang and Lan Na share the same Lineage of Khun Borom.
