Okay, so I have been into the concept of graphic design for about a year, we had a school project to design a advert for either an existing mobile or create a new one. We could only do this in school so supplies were limited to google images. I got really into this and the teacher said I had a natural eye for it. Even though I'm an engineering major, I mess around with logo-like-things sometimes. This is mostly because I'm highly fascinated with geometry and symbols, mostly for mathematical reasons. I still found this video highly interesting and informative, however. Also, if I ever have to work with a graphic designer when marketing something I made, I feel that I'll be much better at effectively collaborating and communicating with them because of your videos. Keep up the good work :)

Ah I remember when I had to make a logo from one of my graphic design classes.

One time my friend, who owns a small business, wanted me to create a logo for him after he saw me doodling. I am a bit shy when it comes to anything creative and ended up not doing it...but I should have.

@scanjet2 I actually came up with that logo about five years ago. It was a happy accident from a previous website design that I just stuck with. Maybe I should have mentioned that in the video - sometimes you just get lucky and hit upon something great.

Have you ever checked out the blog Brand New? They track logo redesigns/ rebranding and blog about it. I know very little about graphic design but I really enjoy the blog and how it has made me more aware of the nuances of logos and design in my daily life.

@morelightthanheat Yes, I read that one occasionally. They seem to be pretty negative most of the time, but then again there's usually good reason for it. Or maybe that's just the articles I get linked to, haha.

@xperpetualmotion yea they are at least often and maybe usually critical of the logos they discuss. I have them in my google reader (or did, till it got all screwed up, ergh), so I often end up skimming their posts. And even when I disagree with their assessments I enjoy learning about how they come to their conclusions, which is something I think they're pretty good at explaining. For someone like me with no graphics background it's a fun introduction to a different way of thinking.
