PLEASE s\chanhe the title, I was looking for a vid with the actual death of romeo and juliet in this movie for a paper and this title is SUPER misleading
This song always cracks me up. I know it's supposed to be somber, but I can't take a song seriously when the first lines are "Baby, joooin me in death" with gothic-orchestral type of chanting.
You gotta admire Baz Lurman for this great rendition of Romeo and Juliet. Yes, its no 1968 version.. but for a modern take on the two star crossed lovers, Baz, Leo and Claire do a good job =]
LP III+: Oh, and as for Leonardo DiCaprio, and all of my Brothers & Sisters (Hollywood Actors 1982-1985), their all caned, and imprisoned at iron Mountain. Ready to be redistributed in repetitive theaters everywhere. Their Sad, and Angry Sire! +JVA+
I'm only 11 but I saw this movie in hummanities class (aka) english class and I cried so much while watching this movie its so brilliant even though the movie may not look as good when you're watching the trailer but after watchint this for some reason I was depressed for 2 weeks yet till this day I'm still flaburgasted
its worth pointing out that the story is totally implausible, they meet at a party, fall instantly in love with each other and then kill themselves a couple of days later. this is why shakespeare is a genius, through the language and structure of the play he builds such a deeply moving tragic impact to such an unlikely story, i dont want to suck the fun out of it but youv got to admit that it's an amazingly well-told story.
@samisacool1 Shakespeare adapted the story of Romeo and Juliet from an older poem -- in that version, they actually wooed and met their demise in the believable span of 9 months. Shakespeare compressed the story into a high-powered, emotional 4 days for more impact.
@samisacool1 I don't think it is so unlikely, it is about the infatuation of young people. Romeo is fickle, and likely a few days later he would be 'in love' with someone different, like with Rosaline before. They think it is true love so they make a rash decision. Shakespeare is amazing though, there's a reason his plays are still being talked about and acted out over 400 years later. I doubt there's one in this day and age that will be talked about 40 years later.
Juliet gets given a drink/potion/poison that will make her seem dead for a while but really she is alive.(this is part of a plan to convince her family that she is dead so she can run away with Romeo) Romeo doesnt reveive the letter explaining this so he beleives Juliet is really dead and kills himself with poison. When Juliet awakens she realises what Romeo has done so she shoots herself with his gun in the modern version and stabs herself with his knife in the older version. hope this helps x
honestly, i didn't like this version of romeo and julliet although i think baz luhrmann is an amazing director. moulin rouge is one of my favourite movies but still, i found this movie stupid.o.O
i was watching this in class, if they had used modern version of the text.. i think it would have been better :) i like the concept of how its mafia ^___^ but i think Tybalt and benvolio look really weird orz
