As Jemma's understudy she probely never goes on stage. So when she gets to go on stage she probely excited, thats why it's a bit amateurish. But don't get me wrong her voice is amazing! After Jemma she'll get to play Elphaba

I've seen both Laura and Jemma as Elphaba live (although i would die to see Idina) of the two i've seen live Laura is most definitely my fave.
Laura has more passion, urgency and truth in her performances. Jemma is great vocally but Laura has that and more. Laura takes Elphaba thru the journey each show. I can't wait to see her live again!!!!

I dunno I saw Jemma on the tv.. I think this role was more suited for Laura. I just got so much passion from her on stage... not sure if she was better vocally but gods it was like just so much fun bursting into the high vocals - especially the end!! XD
Yeah I saw a couple of videos of her... She is great... but I still love Laura the best. That's ok if you like Jemma though xD Looking at many other versions in America I think our Aussie/kiwi girls were much better than even the broadway version. I know it is harder to connect with camera... but you can still just tell who shines out through it regardless. I have a video of Into the Woods original performance and I loved each and everyone of those actors ^^
I sat through this performance and also the evening performance with Jemma Rix. Jemma Rix is a class above Laura. She doesn't have a strong enough lower register to be singing these songs!
@mrdirtmrdirt You're right. She has some strong moments throughout the song but it never really reached any great heights and is a level below Jemma and Patrice before her. Hopefully the more she goes on, the stronger she will be.
She is amazing! Soon she will be unstoppable. A lot of Jemma in her ("I'm flying high") but so much of her own. Her "Solo" and "Free" just grab you along with her "look to the western sky"

She has a great voice, though I prefer Jemma in terms tone and fullness in her voice. Jemma is the ultimate alto-soprano.
